On close games like this, the site administrators decide on the official line to use. This is for all handicappers, not just for Brandon Lang. Frankly the line on this game could have been called at -11 1/2 or -12. It was one of the harder ones to grade in some time.
They called it -12 and therefore a push, rather than -11 1/2 even though more of our handicappers had Cleveland than had Detroit. Customers tend to complain more when you call a play a win when they didn't, so we try to grade on the conservative side.
Many offshores and the majority of books in Vegas had 12 late yesterday.
