Going to lay the 5 1/2 points with undefeated (17-0) San Diego State at home against UNLV in a game that tips at 10:00 PM Eastern.

The sixth-ranked Aztecs are on a 10-4 SU series run, winning five of the last six, including four of five at Viejas Arena where they've won 35 of their last 37 games overall, including 12 straight.

San Diego State returns home to play before a sellout crowd following a tough 71-62 win at Utah as the team struggled with the higher altitude and thin air in Salt Lake. Kawahi Leonard scored 20 points and grabbed nine boards against the Utes while Malcolm Thomas had 17 points and 14 rebounds and point guard D.J. Gay contributed 18 points to key a late 10-0 run.

San Diego State is allowing 58.6 points on 39.9% shooting this season. The Aztecs have big forwards in the aforementioned 6-7 Leonard and 6-9 Thomas plus 6-8 Billy White, all of whom attack the boards and run the floor. As a team, they've outrebounded the Rebels in each of the last six meetings by an average of nine per game.

UNLV did beat Kansas State last month, but this is a team that got drubbed in its conference opener last week by BYU, 89-77. Its other losses came at home versus Cal-Santa Barb (68-62) and at Louisville (77-69). The Rebels are inconsistent defensively and a poor free-throw shooting team. They lost by 10-point margins at San Diego State last season and again at home to the Aztecs in the conference title game. I say they lose by eight tonight as San Diego State pulls away late for the cover.
