I thought it was a good movie when i saw it in theatres... i actually wanted to watch a diff flick at the time but my gf said she really wanted to see this so i gave it a try. I enjoyed it... I think that 2 eight yr olds can enjoy a friendship through a fence. When we were young we'd do anything while we were bored... although the whole kid sneaking out for an extended period of time was a bit farfetched.

I still liked the idea that was passed from the movie onto me.

Don't think there was ever a mention that it was Auschwitz. There were numerous prison camps throughout Germany.

And why are you so certain that 8 year olds were not put to work in the camps? Though Schmol didn't seem to be doing much working anyway.

The book mentions it as Auschwitz, and some movie details point
definitively to Auschwitz:

"Although the concentration camp where the [COLOR=blue! important][COLOR=blue! important]movie[/COLOR][/COLOR] is set is never actually mentioned by name throughout the movie, we know it is Auschwitz because it was the only Nazi death camp with 4 crematoria. The SS officers are discussing the building's construction in the Commandant's office when Bruno's mother interrupts the meeting."

I saw it also. I absolutely hated this movie. It is so rediculously unrealistic, I don't know where to begin.


I want that 90 minutes of my life back.

Movies are Hollywood entertainment. At what point in your life did you start going to movies expecting realism?

Rob, I owe you 90 minutes. I thought it was just a brilliant piece of writing. Didn't know where it was going. Also loved that there was no wrap up at the end. None was needed. To each their own.
