Buffett said a few weeks ago that the kids being born today will have it better than any generation ever. He wasn't wrong.

Easy for people to take for granted how lucky we are to live in USA#1 in 2016.

Awesome observation.

People throughout the world - and most certainly within North America - are looking forward to the greatest years in human history.

Younger people can especially rejoice because each successive generation (referring here to weekly/monthly generations, not just "25 years" etc) enters this time & space as the most highly evolved versions of the human species.

It's therefore bemusing to hear people running for elected office (from all political parties) declare their goal to "take us back to the days when life was better" or "take America back!".

Such declarations defy the laws of quantum physics. There is no "going back".

Tough times for anyone who didn't have a government job. Even those of us that did have jobs got our hours cut. Business owners were either cutting, or going under because people weren't spending. I remember seeing business after business closing down here in Reno, and not just small ones. It was a snowball effect.

And here you are almost a decade later with an awesome life (I'm not jesting you).

"Tough times" merely help us more clearly define what we don't want, thereby instantly clarifying what we do want. And most of us peacefully evolve towards those higher desires, regardless of what is going on around us

I hate to sound mean and selfish....

You don't read that way to me. You read Honest.

Many people have trouble celebrating their greatness and the greatness of the world around them.

It carries an implied message that if I were not so happy, maybe more other people could be happy.

You can't get sick enough to help other people be less sick. And you cannot suffer financially enough to help others prosper.

Being selfish is an ingrained human attribute that assures constant expansion. Celebrate it

Buffet can see 20+ years into the future?

Guy is rich. And can see the future. Talented dude.

Yeah, his opinion is worthless because he has never been able to predicting anything in his life.

If your view is a bit more dystopian then feel free to share it. Unless your pessimism is more of the indeterminate variety.

Whoa. Settle down big fella.

I cant see the future. And neither can Warren.

Past results are not necessarily indicative of future results.

Nobody was lacking composure. I just thought your reply was laughable to mock or dismiss his opinion on the matter.

Obviously given his credentials, when he speaks, it warrants mentioning. Nobody said he had telepathic powers, just that he was informed and his opinion is worth following.

I absolutely dismiss his opinion on how the economy is going to be in 20+ years.

Impossible to predict with any accuracy whatsoever. Too many variables.

He clearly wasn't talking about the economy, not sure where you got that idea. He was talking about aggregate standard of living. He could still be wrong, but it is far more likely that he is right, barring geopolitical disaster which is impossible to predict.

The economy was better in the 1950's than it is right now based on most indicators, which time period would you rather live in?

I get what you are saying. I just think there are too many factors and variable when making a statement like that.

Its all relative and subjective too. And it depends demographic, religion, race, etc.

The way you can tell when a movie is good is if people who are not really interested in the subject of the movie and still liking it.
I think this movie accomplished that.

Kind of like a great chef can sometimes make me like a food that I normally would not enjoy from an average or bad chef .

There is a resturant in New Orleans that has such a damn good chef he or they can make shit taste good. It's amazing

What's the restaurant?
