It's not official but a lot of our "leaders" in America are just following other people jumping the gun.

For instance, the NBA season could have concluded with zero fans, rather than shutting down entirely, but they shut down immediately because of one positive test and then college basketball had to quickly follow with a full cancellation of March Madness.

If they had said no fans, then March Madness could have also said no fans probably.

One huge difference between March and August. In March we thought the infectious rate and the mortality rate was much much much worse than it actually is. It was much more of an unknown, we had Dr Fouci go from "it can't be transmitted from person to person" and "americans don't have to worry about it" to "MILLIONS OF AMERICANS ARE GOING TO DIE". Before he retracted his death estimates because he was relying on "bad models"
