There is 0 chance they trade the #1

So you have your bets in on Caleb Wiiliams going first over TO CHICAGO?

GL with that

If Washington or New England offer their first rounder next year, just like Carolina did, and Chicago only moves down 1-2 spots, there’s no way they turn down that offer to gain yet another first round pick next year and STILL get one of the other too QB’or Marvin Harrison Jr

Haven’t you heard the speculation & concerns about Caleb Williams lately?

This has spread like wildfire

Caleb Williams has lately been labeled a prima Donna

Former NY Jets NFL scout David Kelly who hit on Brock Purdy, warns teams about drafting USC QB Caleb Williams

"This time of the year is about teams doing background work and trying to get inside prospects’ heads. This is part of the evaluation process.

I believe any team considering Caleb Williams needs to think about the high risk from the neck up based on Williams actions, conduct and words that he’s demonstrated.

From painting his fingernails with obscenities aimed at opponents to refusing to shaking hands with Utah and refusing to speak to reporters after the UCLA game, Williams has given NFL owners and decision makers a lot to talk about.

Sportsmanship?

He also made a public statement after the Notre Dame game about a fan being like a sheep and referred to himself as a lion.

Will be paint some obscenity about the 49ers on his fingernails?

He also made a public statement after the Notre Dame game about a fan being like a sheep and referred to himself as a lion.

Will be paint some obscenity about the 49ers on his fingernails?

Will he jump up into the stands again?

Will he put down fans publicly when the microphone is in his face after a loss and he’s feeling frustrated?

During a press conference he said, “I want to go home and cuddle with my dog and watch some shows,” (USA TODAY)

What will he say in NFL press conferences?

How will he represent his team and city?

What’s he going to say or do next?

That’s the question.

He’s much closer to Johnny Manziel than Patrick Mahomes on the spectrum. I mean that with respect and sensitivity, but that’s what I would say if I was a scout sitting in the pre-draft meetings.

What I find incredible is that more people aren’t talking about this.

Do we not care about him?

We witnessed Caleb Williams having a mental breakdown right before our eyes crying uncontrollably in his mother’s arms. To me —as a former NFL Scout, he’s the most mentally fragile player I’ve ever evaluated, quarterback or otherwise.

He has little experience dealing with adversity even by his own admission:

“I’ve never been in this situation, where I’m 7-5 and there are no playoff hopes at the end of the season. I’m dealing with it emotionally, dealing with it spiritually and physically.” (Los Angeles Times)

And now we think he’s going to go into a team with a losing record and turn it around?

He’s 2-9 against ranked college teams on top of it all— and now he’s going to do it in a league that’s only faster and more complex?

Make it make sense.

The mental pressure and expectations will be unbearable from day one. Training camp will look more like a rock concert. Every practice throw will be followed by the paparazzi. Completion percentages in practices, all of it will become a public spectacle.

The expectations are he’s Superman, but in reality he’s 22 years old.

Statistically and on game film Williams regressed in 2023.

This is not headed in the right direction.

I get team fan bases wanting to win and the mainstream media feeding off that hope, but underneath that we have to care about Caleb Williams as a person more than anything. I personally feel for the young man.

He’s in an impossible situation.

Team owners and front office personnel have to consider this high risk.

Watch his post game press conferences on YouTube over the last six weeks of the season (before UCLA). Watch his body language and his eyes. Listen to his tone. Watch how he carries himself. His energy level is lower. He looks aloof at times. Look at his posture on the bench after the loss to Utah all slumped over. He’s giving us the signs. Even his team responded with more spirit and enthusiasm when QB Miller Moss made his first start in his absence in the Holiday Bowl.

The Trojans were heard reportedly shouting "We a team now! We a team now!" after the upset against Louisville.

Quote by Miller Moss. Read between the lines.

“I don't think it's as much about me as it is about the team," Moss said after the game. "The emphasis is really to come together as a team. No ego, no individual. It's all about us as a team bonding together, and that's what we are to focus on moving forward.”

This isn’t a one off, Caleb Williams has been sending us warning signs for two seasons."

Great article, Hache. And I do agree that drafting Caleb Williams is a HUGE risk. I'm praying that he doesn't land in a Patriot uniform. This is NOT the guy I want leading my team. I don't care what his talents are. I'd love Jayden Daniels and hope he's the one who lands with the Pats.

I also think that the Bears could again trade out of the #1 spot and build around Fields. They aren't far away from being a force. They need to improve their O line.

Like I said above, Chicago should have stuck with Justin Fields and traded down for the booty they could have had. They could have added a great WR and great O line player. Hell they could have had three first round draft picks and then one for next year plus more. They already had two.

They will never live this down if this coo coo busts. And I'm guessing he does.

I hope his mascara doesn't run when he cries after the Packers hand the Bears their annual beatings this season.

Lifelong Bears here and live in Chicagoland. These sunny California QB’s never pan out here on the lake at Soldier Field
The wind, the ice cold temps and overall game plan is modified due to weather alone and these guys shiver and it’s hard to throw the ball 20 yards sometimes in winter months.

Somebody tell me I'm wrong when I dread that guy falling to the Patriots and the woke Krafts take him to be our new leader. Please tell me that couldn't possibly happen.

And not for nothing but I was kinda impressed with the moves that the Bears had made over the past couple of years to rebuild.

But letting Justin Fields go for a sixth round draft pick makes no sense to me. Lots of people don't like him but I'd rather have him starting for me than about half the starters in the NFL. He was growing. DJ Moore went to Chicago and had a real nice career year with Fields throwing to him. I don't think the kid is near as bad as his detractors would have you believe. Some offensive line help and another top wide receiver would seem the obvious rebuilding blocks needed in the progression. Let's not forget that Fields is one of the handful of elite NFL QB runners.

Caleb Williams their new leader? I wouldn't trust him to lead my team to the swill bucket.

We all know the teams picking right below Chicago are going to make an offer similar to or even better than Carolina did (which is the reason the Bears own this pick)

Chicago would be crazy to not trade down and pick up another teams 1st Rounder again for next year, and take one of the other QBs instead with the 2nd, 3rd, or wherever pick

Let's not forget that CHI Town could have drafted CJ Stroud Last year. The haul they got from CAR does make up for the fact that Stroud looks like a franchise QB. (Of course it will take about 5 years to verify that) Anyway I agree with Michel that CHI should have kept Fields and drafted either Harrison or Bowers. And upgraded the O line too.

I meant to write though Ninja that the haul that CHI received from CAR does not Make up for the fact that CHI should have drafted Stroud as he looks like a franchise QB.

And I will say of course it's easy for me to state that now that CHI could have and should have drafted Stroud. (It looks like) But I wonder if that reality is in the forefront of the CHI powers that be. And that is why they will take the direction it appears of drafting a QB with the 1st pick in the draft.

Yes but same goes for Carolina lol

It’s a crapshoot & guessing game just never know

Most ‘experts’ had Bryce Young as the best QB

So in a way Chicago is also fortunate because that’s the guy they probably would have taken had they not traded the pick away

(I know we shouldn’t be writing Bryce off so early)

I can't help but wonder if the pink nail polish and phone was an attempt to get Chicago to pass on him at #1 so he can end up in Washington.
