Lets not hijack this thread.

The thread starter needs to take his medicine if Manning leads this drive for the winning score.

I guess that perfect throw to Wayne is Mannings fault.
If Brady would have thrown it, Wayne would have cault it.

NE's defense won the first superbowl. Brady had one good drive against a prevent defense that 75% of QBs in the league could have done. Yet Brady gets his dick sucked for winning that superbowl. He was basically a QB that was asked not to lose that game and make a couple of plays (which to his credit, he did). But stop acting like he was great back then, he wasn't at all.

Dsethi, usually agree with you but gotta disagree on this post. In Brady's first Super Bowl he had a better rating than Peyton Manning in his only Super Bowl. In fact, Brady's ratings have been better in all three Super Bowls than Mannings was in his only one. Furthermore, Brady's postseason passer rating is 6 points higher thatn Manning's and he only has one game where his passer rating was under 70 whereas Manning has five games where his passer rating was under 70.

Also, if you want to discount Brady's first Super Bowl by calling him a game manager than you have to do the same for at least Elway's first, and probably his second as well.

I am not a Pats fan but Brady is going to go down as the best QB I have ever seen. For 6 years he did it without many weapons...and now that he has those weapons look what he is doing.

I would say the reverse on ELWAY.
ELWAY was more of a game manager in his last 2 superbowls then he was in his first 2.

ELWAY was a better QB in the early SuperBowls when they were getting blown away by 40 points a game then he was in the 2 that he won at the end of his career.

ELWAY pretty much single handly got his very average teams of the mid-80s to the big show by himself.

In the last 2, he had the best teams he has ever played on.

Sorry I meant Super Bowl wins, not appearances. Elway was a total game manager the last few years because he had to be to win. Dude was a very good QB, but not Top 5. Would put Manning, Favre, Brady, Montana, Marino, Unitas all definitely in front of him and would personally put Staubach and maybe Graham over him.

Didn't say one word about Peyton Manning. Spoke solely of Brady and the fact that they overestimate his impact on that game and discount the pieces around him. He was a mediocre quarterback that entire playoff run. Less than 300 yards passing in the AFC Championship and Superbowl combined and every Pats fan proclaims that he balled out of control? He didn't. But all Pats fans hype that up and don't even talk about the defense that shut down the Greatest Show On Turf.

IMO there are at least 4 QBs that could win the Superbowl this year with the pieces Brady has around him.

True you didn't say Manning, but this is in a Manning thread and the comparisons were already there before your post.

Could other QB's win a title with this cast? Absolutely. Manning, Favre, Palmer, Big Ben could all win the Super Bowl with that cast around him....probably someone like Warner (if he is kept clean is deadly accurate) or McNabb/Garrard (don't make mistakes and can make plays with their feet) could as well.

Brady was practically a rookie that year and you are right that he did not win that Super Bowl (people forget but Brady was SUCKING BADLY in the 01 AFCCG at Pittsburgh, and it was Bledsoe and the defense that won that game for NE). But he did do what was asked....played mistake-free football and led the Pats to the W and was the reason the Pats won their last two Super Bowls.

People overestimate his impact on that game because of the mystique factor and romanticize it because that game began the Patriot dynasty.

Jesse Palmer could win with this year's Pats team surrounding him. Brady just has to have a pulse this year.

For the record, I thought the Chargers played well enough to win...
