I would watch out for trainer Todd Pletcher. He's notorious for skipping the Preakness and aiming his horses for the Belmont, where's he's been pretty successful. He's bringing back Danza for this race. He is a very lightly raced horse but finished a very respectable third in the Derby. He's also bringing back Intense Holiday, who had a very wide trip in the Derby. We're talking about a couple horses that have had 5 weeks off going up against CC, who was challenged every inch of the way at the Preakness. I'm sure there will be a couple other fresh horses too for this marathon too. But I don't think it's so much the distance as it is the 3 races in 5 weeks that end up being their downfall.
