Not to steal your thunder here kermit, but I've broken it down a bit more in detail in the CFB forum if anyone's interested :

No problem ! What so many don't realize is that Texas over taking Florida in the USA poll was huge for Texas. Florida doesn't care if Texas passes them in either poll because if they beat Alabama... they are in ! I think if Texas passes Oklahoma in the Harris poll Texas is going to the big 12 Championship game and if they win.. on to the BS Championship game. USC and Oklahoma will be on the outside looking in!

If We follow your line of thinking then Texas Tech also settled it on the field ! That's why in a 3 way tie the matter has to be settled on the whole of their season's work.... not head to head because they all have a victory over each other.
all texas tech is going to get is to be able to say is they were co champs in 2008 and nothing more except a second tier bowl. we all know either oklahoma or texas is getting voted in. now we just have to wait too see who they select for big 12 game.

You seemed surprised by this.

There was a slightly better than even chance that Texas would be ranked ahead of OKLA in the BCS when it came out.

Want to know what could end-up screwing Texas the most?

2 Coaches gave their first place votes to OU.

1 Coach gave his first place vote to UF.

All CFB fans should DEMAND to know WHO those coaches are.

Alabama should have EVERY single first place vote. The fact that they don't is the difference in the Coaches poll, which of course could be the difference for the entire BCS calculation.

OU wouldn't have a 1 point lead in the Coaches if it weren't for those two fraudulent 2 first place votes. This is a crime IMO.

Go have another smoke as there is no reason for Florida to fall a spot when they are playing the best football of anyone ! Politics in action plain and simple !

Florida getting 2 first place votes makes sense as Florida would get my vote ! You explain to me how Texas passed Florida ? Now that is the real crime !

Why? No one believes they are the best team so why should they be #1 at all just because they haven't lost...let alone unanamously?

I'd vote Florida 1, Oklahoma 2, Texas 3, USC 4 if I were a voter.

Florida only got 1 first place vote. OU got 2.

I demand to know who the coaches are who voted this way.

Did Bob Stoops and his LOSER of a brother Mike Stoops give OU their first place votes?

Well, we know at the very least he did the right now by not voting his own team first. I imagine Mack voted Bama #1 and his team #2. I really want to know the coaches who gave OU their first place votes, this is not right.

I actually thought what Leach meant by that is that he'd give the nod to OU over Texas if it was a debate of who's #1 or #2 in the Big 12, but NOT his overall Coaches' vote. He didn't say that he'd put OU #1 over Bama at #2 in other words. That's how I took it anyway.

i'm almost positive he said he had ou no.1 over bama because he was going by who he thought was the best team... and he thought more of the big 12 than the sec this year.

OU had 4 first place votes last week in the USA today poll. Why is it a big deal today, and not last week?

I disagree. I don't see any reason why they should. How much more of a right do they have to first place votes than Boise State and Utah? Undefeated record shouldn't mean everything.

OK If you are going to complain about crimes .. then are you also going to yell crime to explain how Texas got 1 first place vote in this weeks Harris poll when they got none last week and Oklahoma got 2 votes last weeks but none this week ? Go figure ! Anyone really believe that politics aren't involved

Was it last year or 2006, when Boise State BEAT mighty (little) Oklahoma in a bowl game?

I hope Oklahoma does NOT get to play for the title.
