I will tell you why you are wrong. Each team could have 3 or more possessions still. Too many things can happen. If you were down 14-6 in the 1Q, you wouldn't go for 2.The original poster is 100% correct. This is simple Math. The SCORE of the game should dictate whether or not you go for 2 NOT the juncture of the game. This old school notion of "it's too early to go for 2" is a farce. Now it might not come into play but McCarthy made a mistake by kicking the XP being down by 2 instead of going for 2. There is no risk in going for 2 being down by 2 as you still need a FG to take the lead whether you're down by 1 or down by 2. Whereas, you're taking a risk not going for 2 to at least ATTEMPT to tie the game should your team not score again. Stupid.
If McCarthy went 2 up by 5 (26-21), then why would he not go for 2 when down 21-19? He's attempting to put the game on "7 " when it sits on "5" at 26-21... Why did he not use the same logic when the game sat on "2" at 21-19? You can't reason with stupid.

I don't care if people have a different opinion on a play, but don't act like your opinion is the only possible correct one & then belittle my opinion. I've seen many coaches go for two in that scenario. What I find ridiculous is that coaches like McCarthy need a chart to tell them what to do.
Lol. People study this shit so these guys don't make irrational decisions to go for it when it's not necessary.
No; McCarthy was wrong to not go for 2 down by 2. Jason Garrett was also wrong in not attempting a FG down 26-21 given it was 4th and 3 with 4:00+ remaining. Luckily for McCarthy, the Pack scored again and it's a futile point. But astute people are watching and the word is out on McCarthy. Great game. Was Dez's catch a catch?Give it up, you're wrong.
