When your teams big headline is keeping Jerome Bettis you know there is a problem....

TE Cushing returns to Steelers
AP, Mar 4, 2004
Tight end Matt Cushing, who didn't catch a pass last season, signed a $535,000, one-year contract Thursday with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cushing has been with the Steelers since signing as a rookie free agent in 1999, though he was released several times before rejoining the team. He has 12 career receptions
WOW what a deal!!!

Superb, Terrell Owens chose Baltimore because he fits right on in...

Baltimore has the most black on black murders, crimes, diseases, drugs... cough cough Jamal will deny the charges...

Oakland wont even come close to Baltimore this year.. Not even on the same level..

he is only worth a second round draft pick?

youwould think SF would have wanted the RAvens to throw in a few rusty nails and a 6 pack to be named later.

what a steal for the RAvens.

NFL owners, get a clue, Dont trade your best player for a used rag.

If the vikings trade Moss they will be doing the same thing.

Boller was a rookie...give the guy some slack...I think Kyle will be just fine....He didn't exactly have Swann and Rice running patterns either....Heap is very solid....

I am no diehard Ravens fan in all honesty, but this team just got a helluva lot better....as long as Jamal isn't sent away lol

Swami- 8 million a year for Joe Torre, can you believe this?

JMan-

I WILL cut Boller slack my point is that Owens will NOT!!!! That guy will bitch all season long if he doesn't catch enough passes.

BTW, great deal for the Ravens. You would think that the 49ers would capitalize on the error Owens and his agent made but NOOOOOOOO they just give him away. Cest la vie...the NFC just got a little weaker..good news for Big Blue!!!

P.S. If General Steingrabber is going to spend $200 million on this team he may as well pay Torre $8 million to keep these guys in line. Other than *maybe* Dusty Baker I think there are few managers who could keep these guys playing day after day.

It doesn't matter who is going to throw Owens the ball or if they run first. This trade gives Balt value. If things don't work out, I am sure that they can get more than a 2nd round pick for TO. The Ravens came up big in this trade.

there`s no place like home....lol

the talk radio shows are going nuts...."no more 8 or 9 in the box"......."todd heap becomes better"......"the whole offense has to be respected now"...

and the word around town is that with cap room left, darryl jackson ain`t out of the question,either...

walking on air in baltimore....it might be dirty air....but it feels beautiful... ....

Biggest question as I see it is whether any NFL player will break the record co-held by Ray Lewis and former star Orenthal Simpson:

Most people murdered (two) by a current or future NFL Hall of Famer. You have to like someone on the Ravens squad to have a big shot at this record. After all, just slash one more and you are forever enshrined.

VVV

p.s. It makes no difference to me how good any sports player can perform in his/her specific area of expertise. If I cannot be comfortable having that person as a guest in my home, interacting with my children, that person to me is of little or no value to society.

The NFL and NBA are full of gangster`s or is it 'gangsta's`? Its really disturbing...

I am not fond of Ray Lewis the man, and his ridiculous epileptic pregame dance...I am in awe of his ability on the field, but these 21st century athletes are a far cry from the Brooks Robinsons` and Johnny Unitas`....

The hiphop gangster era is here now , thank MTV and ESPN for it...

Hasn't anyone heard of nice guys finish last? I mean almost every great team has its share of not so great citizens. Remember everyone said how great the Lakers were in the 80s? Turns out Worthy is out picking up hookers and Magic is sleeping with who knows what. Even Larry Bird is out having numerous illegitimate children. Come on TO might be a hassle, but the guy wants to win and getting him on a relatively cheap salary for a 2nd round pick. The Niners must be kidding!

'Big Game' James seemed to get off easy in the public eye for that one...and Bird is a lesser scale Shawn 'no need for protection' Kemp....

I think Owens will fit right in, its not like he doesn`t have the passion or has a bad work ethic...PLus we have Ray to keep him in line...its funny how fast fans can switch sides, last week when Owens was rumored to Philly, all the fans here in Md could remember was when Owens mailed in his 2nd half performance last season when Baltimore trounced SF here...Now he is the second coming!!

Owens is a steal for a mere 51st pick, as despite his age, he keeps himself in specimen shape, and can catch in traffic, which will help him as he ages further while losing a step.

The Ravens looked "Super" to me during last fall's playoffs, sans youthfull QB & lack-of-seperation WR, also Sp Teams play.

OL, DL, & LB units amongst best, if not tops.

Ravens being in the weakest division in the NFL will not hurt.

Wrong division there. The Ravens are the defending champs of their division.

Horseshoe,
Tenn is no longer in the same division as Balt. Also, Tenn did not win their division (Indy did).
