Basic Logic

If teams like the Lakers or Yankees are on tv, and they are having success, the ratings will be higher than normal

If you show the Grizzlies vs the Pacers, or the A's vs Rangers, then ratings wont be as well.

When the playoffs happen and the Lakers are playing on a Sunday, we'll see good ratings.

If I have money on the game or if my favorite team is playing, then there is a GREATER chance that i am watching the game

Those are constants. Comparing 1 constant in 1 year to 1 constant in another year is how you discover change and then try to assign value to variables leading to that change. This is how statistics work, yes.

Over 6.3 million sports fans watched an exhibition golf match featuring Tom, Tiger, Phil and Payton.

Not so much for NBA or MLB as both fell off after opening day.

Advertisers are going to be wanting part of their money back for the poor ratings.

Thursday’s Clippers-Lakers NBA regular season game averaged a 2.1 rating and 3.35 million viewers on TNT, marking the ninth-largest audience of the protracted season. Six of the top nine have been Laker games, including all four of the team’s matchups with the Clippers.

The Lakers’ narrow win, which peaked with 4.1 million from 9:45-10 PM ET, was the most-watched game on TNT since the same matchup on Opening Night back in October (3.58M) and the most-watched on cable since Blazers-Lakers on ESPN January 31, the first Laker game after the passing of Kobe Bryant (4.41M).

The clippers/laker restart game that most people didn’t even know was on, peaked at 4.1 M and 3.35 M viewers was the 9th most watched game this season. Down from a Million from the game after Kobe passed, which should be expected.

How can you compare ratings in NBA?

Ratings were better the first weekend in August 2020 than 2019 (thank you captain obvious)
Do we compare to what was watched the first weekend in august in 2019?
Regular NBA ratings?

Hard to compare summer ratings to anything as summer shows have the lowest ratings.

I'm sure they gave ESPN's ratings a boost as its been crappy.

What about the cord cutters? ARe they accounting for cord cutters?

I think we'll know better when the NBA playoffs start so we can compare opening rounds 2020 to 2019.

The only game i watched was the HEAT vs nuggets the other day as it was the only game i had interest in

That golf event was a special event involving 3 SUPERSTARS and well known athletes plus Phil. That was also (i believe) the first televised American event that uses a ball.

It was also on during a time when many were NOT allowed to leave their house (New York)

I didnt watch but heard it was pretty enjoyable

If playoffs show bad ratings, then its time to worry.

If playoffs are up against the NFL and college football, then ratings WILL be down

Lmfao and you see what these Fox News whackos compare an nba game to. Might as well compare the nba game to Floyd/mcgregor while they’re at it

he posted an article only showing the ratings of one MLB game and the two opening night NBA games. As the article shows even NooseCar was up nearly 40% for their first race back and Bundesliga 1st match back broke all-time records

NBA opening night was 5.5M viewers for 2 games .... second night was 3M viewers for 2 games

opening MLB game last Thursday (single game) was 4M viewers then the 3 Friday ESPN games combined was 2.7M. uh, that ain't good yo dawg (doing my best mob impersonation)

You do realize a typical NBA regular season matchup pre covid was 900k to 1.1 million don’t you ?

It is funny how people on both sides cling to this ratings stuff.

Trust me, these leagues gonna be around a lot longer than all of us.

NBA ratings were struggling this year before Coronavirus, for what it's worth.

Personally, the fact Americans have not completely turned off from Lebron and the NBA after their immoral stance on Chinese abuses is pretty pathetic in my book.

Lebron will run his mouth about how awful America is over the death of 9 unarmed black men in 2019 at the hands of the police, but he ignores that 10,000 blacks are killed by blacks every year, and he ignores that China is abusing billions of people as we speak as he defends them.

If the American people want to watch that garbage, that's fine. I disagree with them, but they're free to watch it.

But you’re here all day everyday on a sports betting forum telling us how you don’t want to watch sports and how trump is great. You have nothing better to do?

And why haven’t you killed yourself yet? You’re worthless. Not just here but in life. Because if this is the argument you are making you need to re-evaluate everything
