I'll tell you what, I'll make you a friendly wager. Season long NFL, including playoffs (except super bowl).

I bet that I can pick one teaser per week, and betting flat units, show a profit by years end. We can keep one thread here where I will post each one, and we can keep the record.

I don't show a profit, you win. I do, I win.

Whaddya say?

I'd prefer it to be your teaser results vs what would have happened had you bet the 2 games individually

Harry and others had some great advice above, of how teasers can be good pays. Some more. Strictly NFL. Don't tease College. I have some of my own teaser rules, which i don't violate, that adds further discipline. I don't tease road teams. Let downs and blow outs are more likely to happen to road teams. Find places with great teaser odds, like BetMania, Payoffs Plus, 5 Dimes. And find places that allow open teasers. The latter 2 do both. 5 Dimes shades their numbers against teaser players, but you can use that to your advantage with open teasers and hedging against a teaser somewhere else.
But if you feel teasers are not for you, don't play them.

Guesser, of course I know I don't have to play them, but I like bantering about different things, including sports wagering topics...not looking to argue with anyone, rather debate.

Hmmm, interesting. I definitely see the value in tracking that, but I think it makes it harder on me. Lemme think about it.

I mean either way I'm down for a friendly wager size, if nothing else other than I think it would be fun to track.

HC, you say doing it this way makes it harder for you.....that is the whole point of my argument!

Harry....at the prices of teasers today I don't think you can....when the books were offering 6 point teasers at even money it was like stealing.....JMHO and I hope you win

Haha touche.

My point was that I think teasers can be played profitably, not necessarily that they are always more profitable than betting both games straight.

So how would it work, 2.2 units to win 2 on the teaser vs 1.1 unit to win one on each individual? Or 1.1 to win 1 on the teaser?

so that's why I would ask you why you would not just play the 2 plays individually.....I would think to win 2 on the teaser makes the most sense

i think your playing dumb with this question. If you have been gambling for any such of time then you know all about teasers,parlays,etc,....so all this is doing is getting people to discuss it.If you want a topic discussed the just pose it that way,but don't act like your clueless to teasers.

huh? not sure what you mean. I know how a teaser works, never implied I didn't. I'm questioning why some people think playing a teaser is a better option than playing those games individually. It's a forum, I would think kinda normal to pose something to get the dialogue flowing...what would make you say I was trying to act like I was clueless on what a teaser is?

It isn't a better option.

Nor is a parlay unless they are correlated.

Both are inferior options to straight bets.

Teasers can be very profitable in the nfl. So many games come down to 1 or 2 plays and the lines are so tight. Year in and year out I examine my nfl record and the teasers are usually profitable and betting against the spread is a losing proposition. If you don't like teasers don't bet them but don't knock them. There is a reason most books have adjusted the payouts on teasers.

This is how I used to play em , pick my game of the day and then find the favorite either sunday night or monday night that I think will steam the most. Play it for a dime. Hit your play of the day and watch the late fave move up and fire the dog for a dime. Used to like the 6 pointers at even money if it made sense. You can end up with an 8,9,10 point middle and you are risking a hundo to win two dimes. All you have to do is hit your best play of the day!

You want to play teasers? Play overs in the NFL and you'll make a killing. I have. So many games go over the original number now do a 6 point (I play 7 point teasers) Don't believe me?

Look at last season and the season before that and see how many games you would have won picking over just throwing darts pick 2 game teasers. I hit a 5 gamer, all overs. Overs are the way to go in the NFL for teasers.

And you don't even have to hit your best play of the day ATS, you just have to hit your play of the day PLUS SIX POINTS, and you put yourself in a fantastic position.

In order to win a two team teaser at -110 each leg would have to win on average 72.37%. Teasing down is fairly easy to figure out. First figure out a no-vig line. What I do is plug in the Pinny ML on the game in a no-vig calculator http://sportsbettingsites.org/betting-tools/no-vig-calculator/ to get the percentage.

Now if you tease down from 7.5 to 1.5, you'll lose on the 1. The 1 is worth approximately 2.25% so deduct that from the no-vig line. If it's greater than 72.37%, the leg is good.

Teasing down from 8.5 to 2.5 means you lose the 1 and 2. The 1 and 2 are approximately the same so deduct 4.5% from the no-vig line.
