I can see why Denver is there. That impressive 3 point win at home over that powerful Miami team. Maybe it was the impressive home loss to the Raiders a few weeks back. Their QB does have the best middle finger in the league. Does your system exclude a team if they don't make the playoffs? We'll see in a few weeks as Denver will be sitting at home.

Some facts for sammy the sage

One of the reasons the Falcons are off this list is QB Mike Vick. His style of play is not how teams win Super Bowls. The QB needs to be throwing the football to his receivers, not running down field and having his receivers throwing blocks for him.

The Falcons are "technically" the number one rushing team in the NFL. Back in 2000 the Oakland Raiders led the league in rushing as well. Unfortunately, QB Rich Gannon had 529 of those league leading rushing yards. The team only had a running back go over 100 yards a total of four times during the regular season, not what you would expect from the "number one rushing offense."

Right now Mike Vick has run for 821 yards and is 5th in the NFC in rushing. He has had 3 games where he went over 100 yards. Warrick Dunn has had two. Where does Vick rank in completion percantage or passer rating? Nowhere near the level a QB needs to be if you want to win the Super Bowl.

So someone besides Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego, New England, Denver or New York Jets is going to make the Super Bowl? Please list who you believe will win it all.

I would not have Denver on the AFC list....If they play Indy in the playoffs, look for much of the same as the playoff game last year....a rout! Be careful with the Colts, as much as I dislike them, they can put a lot of pressure on opposing teams. You take a couple of possessions without scoring, you are liable of being down 14 quick points.

Was your system right last year...Seems to me you picked Tennessee. I can't recall but I remember it "caused" what seemed like 1000 posts.
'Big Lou' proved to be a big fraud last season as he selected Tenn. to win it all. Not only that, but he swore he would never post here again if Tenn. didn't win it.

Here he is. Says a lot about his integrity, doesn't it?

Colts have Denver & San Diego in last 2 games. Should be solid tests for them. With Balt this week, you can't ask for a nicer level of competition to see where you stand. Indy may get beat in all 3.

Lou does the T.O. injury screw anything up in the NFC picture?

Interesting you took Indy off your list. I guess defensive stats are more important than winning.

As far as the Patriots are concerned, I really believed New England would roll and win another SB but after Monday night forget it. Teams that win Super Bowls do not lose an 11 point lead with 2 mins left to one of the worst teams in the league.

Cincy lit them up the week before and Miami did the same. Its just not suppose to happen especially this late in the season.

IMO, you knocked the wrong team out.

Need to cross off the Jets. Ranked 17th in defensive rushing attempts, SB winners don't rank that low. Still two weeks to go, they can move up (like SD has), but I doubt it..

Offense wins games during the regular season.

Defense wins championships during the post-season.

Good luck and enjoy the rest of the season.

The '99 Rams/'04 Colts by the numbers

1999 Rams:

Allowed an average of 316 yards per game, 3.9 yards per play on defense during the regular season.

2004 Colts:

Currenlty allowing an average of 364 yards per game, 5.6 yards per play.

1999 Rams:

Allowed 74.3 rushing yards per game during the regular season, 3.5 yards per rush.

2004 Colts:

Allowing 123.6 rushing yards per game, 4.7 yards per rush.

1999 Rams:

Had homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.

2004 Colts:

Currently fighting for the No. 3 seed, meaning two road playoff games to even reach the Super Bowl.

When the Rams offense fizzled in the conference finals and the super bowl, the defense stepped up, allowing 6 points against Tampa Bay and 16 against the Titans.

Do you believe the Colts defense can step up and carry this team if and when Manning and the offense has a bad game? I wouldn't bet on it.

And I didn't even mention the Colts special teams, currently last in the NFL in yards allowed per punt return.

Lou is certain to be right on Indy.

No chance. Really not sure how they made the playoffs myself. AFC is just weak overall.
