I knew I'd take heat for betting against my own team. That's fine. Truth is, I only moved to Baltimore recently and have started following them only since then. They aren't my favorite NFL team. I don't feel a strong allegiance to them.

Having said that, I never like to bet against the teams I would root for. Which should tell you how much value I see in betting the Steelers here. I am first and foremost a capper and fan second, and if I see great value in a game I will take it. It's about dollars in the end.

Guys,

I don't lie when I say that my winrate when betting vs. the teams I cheer for is extremely high. What can I say, when you see value you have to take it as a bettor.

That said, I am happy that the Ravens made it this far. The season's been a pleasant surprise and they can expect to build on this with the continued maturation of Flacco and their coaching staff.

I'll have my SuperBowl picks in a couple of days. Good luck to all.

...the Steelers will cover tomorrow. I've got big money on it.

I'm a first time poster but I've lurked for a while and want to share a few of my winning plays from now on. I've been successful overall but especially on my big plays.

I recommend you play Steelers (-6) or the Steelers moneyline. Here is why.

Everyone loves Baltimore right now. They have a fierce defense and an impressive rookie QB. But that's where the problems begin. Rookie QB.

I'm sure everyone heard the statistic that Flacco is the first rookie QB to win two playoff games. All that this stat shows us is how tough it is for rookie QBs to win playoff games. The playoffs hold an entirely different atmosphere and to do it not one or two but three times in a row is asking too much of Flacco.

Consider this: Flacco who is being held in high praise right now actually has not performed great so far in the playoffs. It' impressive on paper that he has yet to throw any picks, but Cameron has called very conservatively, obviously protected potential deficiencies in Flacco. He has completed less than 50% of his passes over two games, has only thrown one touchdown, and has yet to complete 300 yards over two games! If that doesn't worry you enough, consider that he is about to face the toughest defense, the best linebacker on the planet, and possibly the worst place to play at in January in Heinz Field. I might add that his favorite target is banged up.

I wasn't completely sold on the Baltimore D before the Titans game, and I'm certainly not now with a limpy Suggs and no Samari Rolle. The Ravens D hasn't gotten any rest in the last four months, so it's no wonder they are shorthanded. If they allow Parker to run on them early as they did with Chris Johnson last week, I expect Rothlisburger to have a big game, especially with the Ravens secondary weakened. Kerry Collins threw on them at will last week and Rothlisburger is always a threat in the playoffs, and looked great last week.

I see two ways that the Ravens can win. They can get points off special teams or through Ed Reed. If either happens, I like their chances to cover the spread. The problem is, the Steelers are a disciplined, smart team that realizes this. I do not expect the ball to be thrown in any vicinity of Reed tomorrow, and they outplayed the Chargers last week on special teams even with the long Sproles return.

I don't bet against my teams often. I hate to do it. But this situation is too good to pass up. Don't make the mistake of siding with Baltimore just because the public is.

Steelers 23 - Baltimore 13

Good luck!

When betting against your team, too risky to lay points over 3. Too much of a chance you could lose both. It's like a hedge afterall and the point of hedging is not to lose. If your team wins, then great you are happy. If you team loses, than at least you win some money. You're always rooting for your team though and laying more points really exposes the double loss.

Nothing the matter with betting AGAINST your team as long as you don't have to lay points. Your team wins, great you are happy and it cost you a few dollars but you're happy still. Your team loses, well it sucks but at least you win some money.

Win-Win situation IMO, but cant lay the points. Hedge, but do it right.
