Some notes from Minnesotas scrimmage today - from Minny fans:

-Running game is not shaping up how they want it to be but the O-Line does look strong.

-Weber played well but very inconsistent. Relied way too heavily on Deker and threw 3 INT's against the 2nd team defense. Most all blame was placed on Weber for the INT's but Carter did have 2 of them and Gopher fans were pretty excited with his play.

-Return man Troy Stoudemire looked great and is one of the top returners in the nation.

-Quote from one fan "The D-line was disappointing... I am truly worried.... "

Syracuse also had a full 150 play scrimmage but it was closed off to the public/media. Only donors were able to attend and are not allowed to comment.

But I've been watching tapes for 2 wks, and this is the most impressive GG tm I've seen in 15 yrs. I guess they didn't see the 35 yd "rope" Weber thru over 3 defenders hitting Decker in full stride. They have to find a place SOMEWHERE for Gray he's a hell of a talent. With Carpenter opposite Decker they'll be nightmare for anyone to defend. The DL w/Small & Brown in the middle looks very good. In Simmons & Sherels 2 of the better DB's in the B10. The running game is a whole lot better than LY. I AM puzzled at the lack of movement in the line. Don't get me wrong boys, I've certainly been wrong before. But if this edition of my GG can't beat a team like the Cuse by DD albeit a rd game, then I've lost it. As some would suggest anyway. Call out the "bashers", Mn 35-17!!:toast:

I personally was not there. Just taking what I read from their scout board as well as gopherhole. They mentioned the long play to begin the play over DB Carter (who then picked off two passes) and most impressions were the offense was very inconsistent throughout. I think some people don't realize how tough it is to adapt to a new system...even if its not a total revamp (ie:RRod at Mich.) It just doesn't happen overnight. Then again - I don't take too much from inner-squad scrimmages. It's good to see how guys are moving, reacting, and adapting but the stats don't mean squat.

Definetly sounds like everyone was 100% happy with your new stadium though. I like the Carrier Dome...but wish we would do the same (unfortunately we won't because of basketball.) Really would love to watch an outdoor game in November in Syracuse (preferably against South Florida.)

So you're taking the Cuse +, right? Not as drastic a change as it might seem. There's also more to it than 1 in squad game. We'll see in 12 + days, it's on Nat'l TV @ noon your time.

Nope...I don't bet my team. I'd rather go to the game and just enjoy it.

Fair Enough And BOL To You

just some other day!! I usually don't bet either the GG or the Vikes. In fact unlike most of the guys, I don't bet games I'm watching. I get tense and for me it takes away the enjoyment. Because of health & age reasons, I never go to games anymore. But, as an AF Vet & a lover of all things Mn., I will be at the openong of our new stadium on 9/12! Can't wait! My rooting interests will be mixed.:toast:

(<)<Same to you sir. Too bad you're not making the trip down to see the game. The Carrier Dome is a pretty fun place to watch a game - although obviously when it's half full like it has been it's nothing special. I'm sure being a Viking and Gopher fan you've had your fair share of Dome games though!
