Used to be, a dime was $1000. Back when there weren't 70 games on tv each w/e, and no one had the data we all have today. Gamblers zeroed in on 1 or 2 games they liked, or had inside info on. As bigboy said.... today, its a prearranged amount. I can recall, taking interest when I heard so and so has a dime on the steelers or packers. Lefty Rosenthal, Billy Walters.....remember the commercial, "my broker at EF Hutton says".....and the noisy room becomes quiet. Those guys were huge. I still laugh when I think of Jimmy the Greek......on the NFL kick off show, when gambling was flat illegal. What does 50 dimes mean? Is that equal to like a 5 unit max?
