Interesting fact is that Russ Ortiz and Mark Redman pitched for Oklahoma that year, and a 4th GT player (Brad Rigby) also played in the majors.

Bonus question for another shirt - no clues - first with right answer wins.

I hit a triple in my first and only major league at bat - who am I?

Thanks for the trivia & prize. It's ridiculous how many Sox players were in the CWS that year.

lindstrom had 2 at bats

True, he tripled and walked which makes it tricky because walks are not counted as official at bats when figuring batting averages. They are at bats though in any case. Heck of try.

From Play by Play of box score of Chuck Lindstom's only MLB game in 1958 between the White Sox 11 and Kansas City A's 4 on Sep 28th. 1958.

Bottom of the 6th, White Sox Batting, Ahead 6-4, Bob Davis facing 8-9-1
Bob Davis replaces Bob Cerv pitching and batting 4 Carrasquel moves to SS; Bob Martyn moves to LF
C Lindstrom Walk
Jim Rivera pinch hits for Hal Trosky batting 9th
J Rivera Strikeout Looking
B Goodman Single to 2B; Lindstrom to 2B
N Fox Flyball: RF
D Mueller Single to LF; Lindstrom Scores; Goodman to 3B
R Jackson Groundout: 3B-1B
1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 LOB. Athletics 4, White Sox 7.

Bottom of the 7th, White Sox Batting, Ahead 7-4, Bob Davis facing 5-6-7
J Callison Walk
B Phillips Flyball: LF
S Esposito Flyball: LF
C Lindstrom Triple to RF; Callison Scores
B Shaw Groundout: P-1B
1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 LOB. Athletics 4, White Sox 8.

so I take it my answer is wrong then?

Yes based on the way the question is worded I have to rule incorrect, even though his first at bat was a walk it was still an at bat..

I hit a triple in my first and only major league at bat - who am I?

Sorry, but there will be plenty of other questions in the weeks ahead, wil.

Dsethi just picked some up at the Bash last week (at least I hope he did)..

I make you both big favorites to win one legit real soon if you continue to play.

Believe me, I want to give them away and if no one answers this by 10PM EDT tonight I will give you and Dsethi each a shirt - fair enough?

Looks like a to difficult -- answer.

Scott Munninghoff (RHP) on April 22nd 1980 while playing for the Phillies
in a 14-8 win against the Mets at Veterans Stadium. Tom Hausman was the opposing pitcher.

From Box score - 3 base hits by Phillies.
3B: G Vukovich (1, off T Hausman); S Munninghoff (1, off T Hausman).
Munninghoff never batted before or after that triple in his brief 4 game major league career.

Dsethi and jgrif33 please email me your preferred size (Large, XLG and XXlg only) and a shipping address inside the US or Canada at person19481950@yahoo.com

Please include your poster name in email.
Please Title email Rx Polo Shirt winner.

Thanks, wil.
