The Braves host the Yankees and Toronto hosts Detroit. These plays are a continuation of my 'arbitrage' wager where I am selling the Yankees and buying the Blue Jays. The strategy started 22 days days ago when the Yankees held a 6 1/2 game lead over the Blue Jays and is based on the premise that Toronto will catch and pass the NY Yankees in the next 2 to 4 weeks if not sooner. Remember though, the timing is not important, but the trend that has Toronto taking over the lead and an building a lead over the Yankees.
This is day 23 of that strategy and the first 22 days have made $1349 for the $100 wagerer. This profit is not included in my 25*/35*/50* premium Titan profit of $15,250 that is based on the dime player. So, a dime player would have made $13,240 alone from this arbitrage strategy in just 22 days.
For those reviewing this strategy for the first time, an arbitrage in Wall Street terms is the simultaneous buying and selling of homogenous securities. So, in the software space, Apple Computer and Microsoft would be considered homogenous securities as woulds the 10-year Treasury Note and the 2-year Treasury Note. If an investor believes that Apple will out perform Microsoft then they would engage in buying Apple and shorting (selling) Microsoft. There is a weighting calculation that needs to be applied as well to equate the securities equally since Apple trades at $115 per share and Microsoft at $47 per share.
Incredible tragedy of the Braves fan, who fell from the upper deck to his death. Apparently alcohol was involved that may have heightened the moment when A-Rod came up to pinch hit. No matter the circumstances or possible causes, it is a tragedy that fellow fans, players, and everyone that was there will never forget.
Toronto is taking the AL East by storm and nailed down another 15-1 win yesterday. There offense is vastly the best one in MLB and can put up many crooked numbers against any starter or bullpen in baseball. There is no reason to expect this offense to be a fluke and the unit make actually get better as the playoffs loom.
Yet, historically, teams that do score 15 or more runs have a far more difficult time scoring in the next game. There is no exact reason for this phenomenon, but over the course of many seasons, playing against a team that scored 15 or more runs in their last game has done well. This game though is a major mismatch and one I think Toronto will win.
Supporting the Braves is a solid dog playing system that has gone 57-30 for 66% winners and has made 41 units/unit wagered since 1997. It has averaged a nice +124 dog play. Play against all favorites with a money line of -110 or higher (NY YANKEES) and is a cold hitting team batting .240 or worse over their last 20 games and is now facing an opponent with a hot starting pitcher posting a WHIP

Marlins @ Nationals — Brad Hand will face his nemesis in Washington on Sunday. Hand is 0-5 with an 8.19 ERA and 1.92 WHIP in seven career starts against the Nationals. In three home outings against Washington last year, Hand gave up 14 runs and 21 hits in 15 innings of work. Stephen Strasburg is looking for his first win of the year against Miami. He lasted just nine total innings in two earlier starts against the Marlins. I like Over 7 (+100) in this game.

Padres @ Phillies — Alec Asher gets the call for the Phillies on Sunday afternoon. Asher went 6-10 with a 3.97 ERA in 24 starts for three different minor league teams this season. The righty had 109 strikeouts to just 40 walks over 133.2 innings of work. San Diego’s James Shields isn’t in the best of form right now; he gave up 5 runs in two of his last three starts against the Nationals and Reds. The Phillies have scored 4 runs or more in five of their last six games, so Shields figures to struggle once again. The value is certainly on the Phillies (+140) in this game.

Reds @ Brewers — A report out of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Tuesday said that Wily Peralta may be dealing with a dead arm right now. Peralta has allowed 13 runs and 26 hits in his last four starts. However, Jay Bruce (4-20), Zack Cozart (3-23), Todd Frazier (2-14), and Brandon Phillips (3-16) have all struggled mightily against Peralta. But that was against a healthy Peralta. Cincinnati’s John Lamb is 0-2 with a 6.06 ERA and 1.65 WHIP on the season. Over 8.5 (-120) looks like the right way to play this game.

Mariners @ White Sox — Edgar Olmos will make his first Major League start for the Mariners on Sunday. He made four appearances previously out of the bullpen for Seattle, allowing just five hits and two walks in 7.2 innings of work. Of note, one of those appearances came at home back on August 22nd against the White Sox. He held Chicago hitless and scoreless in that appearance. Carlos Quintana is not in the best of form for the White Sox right now; he has allowed 8 earned runs on 22 hits in his last 18 innings of work. Early money has come in on Seattle, dropping the line 10 cents from the opener.
