Jessica Eye Over Sara McMann

Sara McMann and Jessica Eye are both in the middle of two-fight losing streaks. Both have had issues with getting outgrappled during that streak. McMann is not great with submissions despite being an Olympic silver medalist in woman's wrestling. I expect McMann will attempt to utilize her wrestling while Eye will try to work McMann over on the feet. Both girls have some power and both have been knocked down in recent fights. If this fight stays standing, Eye should have a big technical striking edge and should do some damage with her lead jab.

If Eye can keep from being taken down, I expect her to either win a decision due to superior striking or potentially even knock McMann out. I like Eye as an underdog here as McMann has not looked particularly good in any of her last four fights.

Preview: Red Sox at Blue Jays

GAME: Boston Red Sox (29-20) at Toronto Blue Jays (26-25)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 1:07 PM EST
WHERE: Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Boston Red Sox have found an opposing offense that can match up with their own and are in danger of being swept by the Toronto Blue Jays. The Red Sox will try to get the necessary outs late in the contest and avoid a three-game sweep when they visit the Blue Jays for the finale on Sunday.

Boston knotted it at five runs apiece in the eighth inning on Friday only to watch Koji Uehara serve up a tiebreaking two-run homer to Josh Donaldson in the bottom of the frame, and had a lead disappear in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday as Craig Kimbrel blew a save in a 10-9 setback. The Red Sox built an 8-4 lead in Saturday’s contest but had Tommy Layne and Junichi Tazawa serve up two runs apiece to tie it before Kimbrel made David Ortiz’s go-ahead home run in the top of the ninth irrelevant. Toronto (26-25) has powered its way to four straight wins to pull above .500. The Blue Jays totaled 28 runs in the last four games and Russell Martin has three home runs in that span, including one in Saturday’s triumph.

TV: 1:07 p.m. ET, NESN (Boston), Sportsnet (Toronto)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox LH David Price (7-1, 5.34 ERA) vs. Blue Jays RH R.A. Dickey (2-6, 4.60)

Price has won each of his last three starts since making a mechanical adjustment, allowing a total of six runs in 21 innings while striking out 23. The Vanderbilt product finished out last season with Toronto and is making his first start at Rogers Centre since losing to the Texas Rangers in Game 1 of the American League Division Series. Price surrendered two runs in seven innings to earn a win over the Blue Jays at Fenway Park on April 16 and is 11-1 with a 3.34 ERA in 15 career starts at Rogers Centre.

Dickey is having some trouble finding consistency and followed up eight scoreless innings at Texas on May 13 with a pair of losses. The veteran knuckleballer was ripped for nine runs on 13 hits - including four home runs - over 12 2/3 innings in his last two outings. Dickey made back-to-back starts against Boston in April and lost both while yielding 11 runs (eight earned) on 14 hits and six walks in 9 2/3 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts has hit safely in 21 straight games to lift his AL-leading batting average to .351.

2. Toronto placed SS Troy Tulowitzki (right quad) on the 15-day DL.

3. Boston moved RHP Clay Buchholz to the bullpen, and he could be available to make his first relief appearance on Sunday.

Preview: Yankees at Rays

New York Yankees (23-25) at Tampa Bay Rays (22-25)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 1:10 PM EST
WHERE: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Evan Longoria and the Tampa Bay Rays were struggling to find their offense before the former helped the latter even their three-game series with the New York Yankees at one win apiece. Longoria and the Rays look to continue their momentum on Sunday afternoon as the American League East rivals vie for a series victory in the finale of their three-game set at Tropicana Field.

Mired in a woeful stretch (2-for-19, .105), Longoria launched a two-run homer to highlight a four-RBI performance as Tampa Bay nearly doubled its run total from its previous five contests with a 9-5 triumph on Saturday. The Rays (22-25) posted their second win in eight contests to move within one-half game of the fourth-place Yankees (23-25), who fell for just the third time in their last 10 contests. Veteran Carlos Beltran has gone deep in back-to-back tilts to reach the 2,500-hit milestone but is just 2-for-12 (.167) versus Sunday starter Jake Odorizzi. New York will counter with fellow hard-throwing right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, who has turned around his season following a disastrous start.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, WPIX (New York), FSN Sun (Tampa Bay)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees RH Nathan Eovaldi (5-2, 3.95 ERA) vs. Rays RH Jake Odorizzi (2-2 3.46)

Eovaldi sputtered out of the gate with an 0-2 record and bloated 6.11 ERA in his first three starts before righting the ship by going 5-0 in his last six outings - with a slim 2.16 ERA over the last four. The 26-year-old's good fortune continued on Tuesday as he scattered two hits over six innings en route to a 6-0 win over Toronto. Eovaldi has struggled in a pair of outings versus Tampa Bay, however, posting an 0-2 mark with a 4.97 ERA while issuing six walks in 12 2/3 frames.

Odorizzi has answered an 0-2 record in his first eight starts by recording back-to-back wins on the road. The 26-year-old overcame a pair of solo homers in a 6-3 victory over Toronto on May 18 before yielding two hits and striking out seven in a 4-3 triumph at Miami. Odorizzi required 107 pitches to finish five innings versus the Marlins, however, and carries a 3-4 career mark and 5.06 ERA against the Yankees into Sunday's tilt.

WALK-OFFS

1. New York CF Jacoby Ellsbury is 7-for-20 (.350) in five contests versus Tampa Bay this season.

2. Like Ellsbury, Rays 1B Steve Pearce has recorded multi-hit performances in each game of this series - going 4-for-9 (.444) in total.

3. Yankees DH Alex Rodriguez is just 1-for-13 (.077) with seven strikeouts in three contests since returning from the disabled list.

Preview: Orioles at Indians

GAME: Baltimore Orioles (27-20) at Cleveland Indians (26-21)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 1:10 PM EST
WHERE: Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Cleveland Indians have pushed their way to the top of the American League Central and will try to secure a third consecutive series win when they host the Baltimore Orioles in the rubber match of their three-game series on Sunday. The Indians have won nine of their last 13 contests to pull a season-high five games over .500.

Cleveland dropped Friday’s series opener 6-4 but got the offense moving again in an 11-4 victory on Saturday that featured three RBIs from Yan Gomes and two more from Mike Napoli. The Indians figured to lean on their pitching staff this season but are coming together offensively over the last two weeks, scoring six or more runs in seven of their last 13 contests. The Orioles sit one game behind Boston in the AL East but haven’t helped themselves by dropping five of their last six. Baltimore has been in a bit of a funk offensively during the slide and have produced more than four runs only once in its last seven games – Friday’s triumph.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, MASN2, WJZ (Baltimore), SportsTime Ohio (Cleveland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Chris Tillman (6-1, 2.61 ERA) vs. Indians RH Mike Clevinger (0-1, 8.71)

Tillman hasn’t lost since April 14 but did not figure in the decision at Houston on Tuesday despite allowing just two runs and three hits in seven innings. The solid outing marked the seventh straight quality start for the 28-year-old native of California. Tillman is 4-2 with a 3.89 ERA in seven career starts against Cleveland and earned a pair of wins over the club last season.

Clevinger is making his third major-league start and is running out of time to prove himself with Carlos Carrasco (hamstring) making his way back from the disabled list. Clevinger was lit up for six runs on seven hits and three walks in five innings at the Chicago White Sox on Monday to absorb his first loss. The 25-year-old has surrendered three home runs in 10 1/3 total frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Napoli is 6-for-19 with two home runs, seven RBIs and six runs scored in his last five games after going hitless in the previous four contests.

2. Baltimore OF Mark Trumbo went 5-for-8 with a homer and two doubles in the first two games of the series.

3. Cleveland SS Francisco Lindor is 5-for-12 with four runs scored in his last three contests.

Preview: Cardinals at Nationals

GAME: St. Louis Cardinals (26-24) at Washington Nationals (29-21)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: Nationals Park, Washington, District of Columbia
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Stephen Strasburg looks to extend a pair of winning streaks when he toes the rubber for the Washington Nationals in the finale of their four-game series with the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. While Strasburg is the first pitcher in franchise history to begin a season 8-0 since Pedro Martinez did the same with the Montreal Expos in 1997, his team has been victorious in each of his last 14 starts.

Included in those streaks is a victory by Strasburg at St. Louis on April 29, when he yielded two runs in seven innings. The Cardinals have taken two of the first three games of the series after posting a 9-4 victory on Saturday. Matt Holliday homered and scored twice as part of a 12-hit attack as St. Louis won for the second time in six meetings this season. Ryan Zimmerman slugged two homers and Bryce Harper also went deep for the Nationals, but the reigning National League MVP has just one multi-hit effort in his last 14 games.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, MLB Network, FSN Midwest (St. Louis), MASN, WUSA 9 (Washington)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Michael Wacha (2-5, 5.04 ERA) vs. Nationals RH Stephen Strasburg (8-0, 2.79)

After posting a 2.65 ERA through his first six starts, Wacha has allowed 20 earned runs over 18 innings in his last four appearances. He has lasted exactly four frames and given up exactly eight hits in each of his last three starts - including Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs, who got to him for eight runs. The 24-year-old Texan, who has lost five straight decisions, owns a sparkling 0.79 ERA in three career starts versus Washington.

Strasburg struck out a season high-tying 11 in 6 2/3 innings of a win over the New York Mets his last time out. He has reached double digits in strikeouts in five of his last eight starts and has given the Nationals at least six frames in all 10 appearances this year. Holliday is 6-for-12 against Strasburg, who has recorded a 2.76 ERA in five career meetings with the Cardinals.

WALK-OFFS

1. Harper is hitting .233 at home this season after posting a .345 average at Nationals Park last year.

2. Cardinals INF Greg Garcia is 5-for-7 with three walks since being recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

3. Washington 2B Daniel Murphy has registered 41 hits in May, a record in one month for the Nationals.

GAME: Cincinnati Reds (16-33) at Milwaukee Brewers (22-27)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Cincinnati Reds decided it was time to snap their 11-game slide on Saturday and rallied for a rare victory. The Reds will try to parlay that momentum into their first series win since April 18-20 when they visit the Milwaukee Brewers for the rubber match of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon.

Cincinnati showed signs of emerging from its offensive funk in a 9-5 loss in the series opener on Friday and finally broke out the clutch hits in Saturday’s 7-6 triumph. Adam Duvall bashed a three-run homer in a five-run seventh inning that tied it at six and Joey Votto came around to score the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth after a review overturned a double play. The Reds managed a total of three runs while being swept in a three-game series at Los Angeles to begin the road trip but showed some fight Saturday in a game that featured six hit batters and the ejection of Cincinnati starter Alfredo Simon. The Brewers had a four-game winning streak come to an end with the setback and are trying to secure wins in back-to-back series for the first time this season.

TV: 1:10 p.m. ET, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds LH Brandon Finnegan (1-3, 3.97 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Jimmy Nelson (4-3, 2.92)

Finnegan suffered a loss at Los Angeles on Monday but may have put up the best line of his young career with one run allowed on five hits in eight innings. The 23-year-old did not complete seven innings in any of his first nine starts and permitted at least three earned runs in each of his previous six outings. Finnegan was knocked around for five runs – three earned – and gave up three home runs in five innings without factoring in the decision against Milwaukee on May 7.

Nelson did not earn a win in any of his last three starts despite yielding a total of three runs in 21 1/3 innings. The Alabama product notched eight strikeouts in six innings at Atlanta on Tuesday but did not factor in the decision in a game the Brewers went on to win 2-1. Nelson went up against Finnegan on May 7 and suffered through his worst start of the season while yielding six runs – five earned – on eight hits in five innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Duvall is 4-for-9 with two home runs and seven RBIs in the series.

2. Milwaukee C Jonathan Lucroy is 4-for-9 with two home runs and six RBIs in the series.

3. Cincinnati LHP Tony Cingrani has put together three straight scoreless appearances and picked up the save on Saturday.

Preview: White Sox at Royals

GAME: Chicago White Sox (27-23) at Kansas City Royals (26-22)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 2:15 PM EST
WHERE: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Kansas City Royals have experienced more than their fair share of injuries in the presence of the Chicago White Sox this season, but even that hasn't stopped the defending world champions' recent domination of their American League Central rivalry. After staging a seven-run ninth-inning rally in their most recent win over the White Sox to move into a tie for second place in the division, the Royals look to complete a three-game home sweep against them on Sunday.

Third baseman Mike Moustakas (ACL) was lost for the season and left fielder Alex Gordon (wrist) for approximately a month when the two collided with each other in last Sunday's 3-2 loss to Chicago - Kansas City's only setback in five games against the White Sox. The Royals suffered a partial case of déjà vu in Saturday's 8-7 victory when catcher Salvador Perez and third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert collided - resulting in a potentially serious leg injury for Perez - but they still found the resolve to pull off their largest ninth-inning comeback in team history when Brett Eibner - playing in his second career game - singled home the winning run to complete the rally. Chicago has dropped 13 of 17 overall and finds itself a half-game behind first-place Cleveland after holding a six-game edge in the division on May 9. The White Sox, who have won only 14 of the last 44 meetings between the teams, also let a four-run lead slip away in Friday's opener, surrendering six runs after the fifth inning en route to a 7-5 loss.

TV: 2:15 p.m. ET, CSN (Chicago), FSN Kansas City

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Chris Sale (9-1, 2.26 ERA) vs. Royals RH Edinson Volquez (5-4, 3.67)

Sale saw his 10-start winning streak come to an emphatic end in Tuesday's home loss to Cleveland after he surrendered a season-high six runs and tied or set three other season-worst marks by allowing seven hits and four walks over 3 1/3 innings. The rough outing was a rare one for the four-time All-Star, who yielded more than one run for only the second time since April 9. Sale is only 7-9 in 26 career appearances (15 starts) versus the Royals despite posting a 2.84 ERA against them.

Volquez continued his pattern of up-and-down outings with a win at Minnesota on Tuesday, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks while fanning six across 6 2/3 innings. Since going 3-0 with a 1.09 ERA in his first four turns, the 32-year-old Dominican is 2-4 with a 5.40 ERA, although he has fared much better at home (3-2, 2.06) than on the road (2-2, 6.55). Volquez went 2-2 in five starts against the White Sox last season, giving up no more than two earned runs in any of them.

WALK-OFFS

1. Perez was diagnosed with a left quad contusion following the end of Saturday's game but will undergo an MRI on his knee.

2. Thirteen of the White Sox's last 16 games have been decided by two runs or fewer (3-10), including one-run decisions in five of the last eight.

3. Kansas City 1B Eric Hosmer is 6-for-13 with a homer and eight RBIs over his last three contests after collecting two hits - both singles - and one RBI over his previous 27 at-bats.

GAME: Philadelphia Phillies (26-23) at Chicago Cubs (33-14)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 2:20 PM EST
WHERE: Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Last week’s three-game losing streak appears to be nothing more than a blip on the radar for the Chicago Cubs, who have won four straight to strengthen their hold on the best record in the majors. The Cubs will try to finish a three-game sweep of the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon when they send veteran John Lackey to the mound.

The Cubs are 31-2 when scoring four or more runs, but they haven’t been able to reach the magic number in Lackey’s last three starts - totaling just five runs in those three games. Chicago’s offense has been clicking lately, as the Cubs have put up 31 runs during their four-game winning streak. The Phillies, meanwhile, have scored only 22 runs in their past eight games, going 2-6 over that stretch. Philadelphia has only three extra-base hits in the series compared with nine for Chicago.

TV: 2:20 p.m. ET, CSN Philadelphia, WGN (Chicago)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH Vince Velasquez (5-1, 2.75 ERA) vs. Cubs RH John Lackey (4-2, 3.38)

Velasquez has come back to Earth a bit after an incredible start to the season, as his ERA has risen more than a run over his past four outings. The 23-year-old does not have a quality start over that span and was unable to record an out in the fifth inning Monday at Detroit, allowing three runs and nine hits over four-plus frames in a no-decision. Velasquez has yet to face the Cubs in his young career.

Lackey has posted five straight quality starts but has only one win over that stretch. The 37-year-old struck out nine over seven solid innings in his last start, holding St. Louis to three runs and four hits in a no-decision. Lackey has had tough luck against the Phillies, owning a 3-4 record despite pitching to a 3.13 ERA in seven meetings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cubs 2B/OF Ben Zobrist went 2-for-4 Saturday and is 24-for-54 during a 14-game hitting streak – the longest active streak in the National League and the second-longest in his career.

2. Phillies SS Freddy Galvis went 2-for-3 Saturday to extend his hitting streak to six games and has three multi-hit contests over that span.

3. Chicago RF Jason Heyward is 12-for-32 during an eight-game home hitting streak after going 4-for-46 in his first 13 home contests as a Cub.

GAME: Pittsburgh Pirates (28-20) at Texas Rangers (28-21)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 3:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

After failing to match their longest winning streak of the season, the Pittsburgh Pirates vie for their fourth straight series victory when they visit the Texas Rangers on Sunday in the rubber match of their three-game interleague set. Pittsburgh was unable to solve Yu Darvish in his return from Tommy John surgery and dropped a 5-2 decision on Saturday to snap its string of five consecutive victories.

John Jaso has been swinging a hot bat for the Pirates, hitting safely in eight of his last 10 contests while recording five multi-hit performances in that span. Texas has won seven of its last nine contests after Darvish struck out seven while allowing one run and three hits over five innings in his first start since Aug. 8, 2014. Adrian Beltre appears to be heating up for the Rangers as he has homered in each of the first two games versus Pittsburgh and collected five RBIs over his last three contests overall. Jurickson Profar has gone 3-for-9 over two contests for Texas in place of second baseman Rougned Odor, who continues to serve his seven-game suspension.

TV: 3:05 p.m. ET, ROOT (Pittsburgh), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Pirates LH Francisco Liriano (4-3, 4.30 ERA) vs. Rangers LH Martin Perez (2-4, 3.13)

Liriano struggled with his control Tuesday, issuing five walks, but limited Arizona to one run and two hits in 5 2/3 innings to snap his personal two-game skid. The 32-year-old Dominican has allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last five turns, serving up a total of one homer in those four outings, but has posted a 7.00 ERA in five road starts this season (1-2). Liriano has enjoyed plenty of success against Texas in his career as he has produced a 5-1 record with one save and a 2.89 ERA in nine meetings (seven starts).

Perez also halted a two-game slide Tuesday, when he scattered five hits over six scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels. The 25-year-old Venezuelan has been even better than Liriano of late, giving up fewer than three runs in five of his last six outings - a stretch during which he has won only half of his four decisions. Perez lost his only career start against Pittsburgh on Sept. 10, 2013 as he yielded four runs and nine hits in five frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Pirates SS Jordy Mercer (3-for-3) and CF Andrew McCutchen are a combined 5-for-6 lifetime against Perez.

2. Pittsburgh got Tony Watson back from paternity leave Saturday and optioned fellow LHP Kyle Lobstein to Triple-A Indianapolis.

3. Texas returned 3B Joey Gallo to Triple-A Round Rock to make room on the roster for Darvish.

GAME: Houston Astros (21-29) at Los Angeles Angels (22-27)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 3:35 PM EST
WHERE: Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Anaheim, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Houston Astros (21-29) are slowly starting to show signs of life and try for their fifth victory in six games when they visit the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday in the rubber match of their three-game series. Houston's roll of late has coincided with manager A.J. Hinch's decision to flip-flop George Springer and Jose Altuve at the top of the lineup as Springer (.274 this season) is 9-for-20 in five games since moving to the leadoff spot, but Altuve (.313) is 3-for-18 during that span.

The Astros' bullpen also is playing a part in the resurgence with a 0.82 ERA over the last 10 games while allowing only 18 hits in 33 innings during that span after recording two scoreless frames in Saturday's 4-2 victory. Los Angeles (22-27) has dropped three of its last four games and is trying to stay afloat despite having nine players on the disabled list, including 60 percent of the rotation and its starting shortstop. Albert Pujols (.220) homered in his last two games but is 2-for-15 in his last four contests after raising his batting average to a season-high .228. Doug Fister is 3-0 with a 3.09 ERA in his last five turns — all Houston victories — and opposes former Astro Nick Tropeano, who won his last two starts and has allowed two or fewer runs in seven of nine starts this season.

TV: 3:35 p.m. ET, ROOT Southwest (Houston), FSN West (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Astros RH Doug Fister (4-3, 4.12 ERA) vs. Angels RH Nick Tropeano (3-2, 2.86)

Fister received a no-decision after yielding two runs (both solo homers), three hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings of Houston's 3-2 victory over Baltimore on Tuesday as his string of quality starts ended at six. The 32-year-old Californian is holding right-handers to a .176 batting average, .275 slugging percentage and .525 OPS this season compared to .304/.548/.908 versus lefties. Mike Trout is 4-for-10 and Pujols 1-for-8 (solo home run) against Fister, who is 2-3 with a 2.86 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in nine starts versus Los Angeles.

Tropeano permitted four hits and struck out six in 6 2/3 innings of a 2-0 victory in Texas on Monday after allowing one run in seven frames of an 8-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 18. ''I just kind of trusted my stuff and just let the defense work,'' the 25-year-old New Yorker told reporters. ''I think in my past, I was trying to be too fine with my pitches.'' Tropeano, a fifth-round pick by the Astros in 2011, received a no-decision after yielding two unearned runs in 4 1/3 innings of the Angels' 6-5 victory in Houston on Sept. 23 in his only appearance against his former team.

WALK-OFFS

1. Pujols tied Honus Wagner for 21st on the all-time RBI list with 1,732 after belting his 571st career home run Saturday. Pujols is two homers shy of tying Harmon Killebrew for 11th place.

2. Astros RHP Will Harris owns the longest active scoreless innings streak in the majors at 21 1/3, which covers his last 21 appearances.

3. Los Angeles closer Huston Street (oblique strain) threw 20 pitches in an extended spring training game Saturday as he nears his return to the Angels.

GAME: Detroit Tigers (24-24) at Oakland Athletics (21-29)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 4:05 PM EST
WHERE: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Following their finest offensive effort this season, the Oakland Athletics will have their best pitcher on the mound Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game set with the visiting Detroit Tigers. Billy Butler and Khris Davis each homered and drove in three runs and Danny Valencia also went deep as the Athletics rolled to a 12-3 win Saturday, besting their previous season high in scoring by four runs.

The result snapped Oakland's three-game slide and handed the Tigers just their third loss in the last 12 contests. Rich Hill will be hoping for similar run support when he puts a personal four-game winning streak on the line against a team he held scoreless for seven innings on April 26. The resurgent left-hander has enjoyed pretty good success against most of Detroit's lineup, but slugger Miguel Cabrera is 4-for-6 with a homer and a double against him. The Tigers counter with Mike Pelfrey, who is winless in nine starts and has just one quality start on the season.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, FSN Detroit, CSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Tigers RH Mike Pelfrey (0-4, 5.55 ERA) vs. Athletics LH Rich Hill (7-3, 2.18)

Pelfrey gave up four runs and a season-high 11 hits in six innings of a no-decision against Philadelphia on Monday. It was the first time he completed six frames since he lasted 6 2/3 in a loss against Oakland - and opposite Hill - on April 26. The 32-year-old is 0-3 with an 11.05 ERA in three career starts versus the Athletics, giving up 26 hits and striking out only six in 14 2/3 innings.

Hill spun a season-high eight scoreless innings his last time out at Seattle, an effort that has him sitting atop the American League in ERA. He has gone four straight starts without allowing a home run and has 12 strikeouts against one walk over his last two appearances. The University of Michigan product has a 3.63 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 17 1/3 frames in his career versus Detroit.

WALK-OFFS

1. Tigers DH Victor Martinez is batting .350 in 76 career games against Oakland.

2. Davis is 6-for-15 with two homers and three doubles during a four-game hitting streak.

3. Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler is 5-for-8 with two extra-base hits and two steals in the series.

GAME: San Francisco Giants (31-20) at Colorado Rockies (23-25)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Facing the Colorado Rockies in Coors Field is often an unenviable task for even the most accomplished pitchers, but such has not been the case for Johnny Cueto. The 30-year-old Dominican looks to extend an 18 1/3 scoreless-inning streak against Colorado on Sunday as the San Francisco Giants face the Rockies in the rubber match of their three-game set.

San Francisco has won each of Cueto's last six starts and is 9-1 with him taking the mound this season, although one of his two no-decisions came in a masterful performance at home against the Rockies in which he tossed 8 1/3 scoreless frames on May 7. He turned in a nearly identical outing in his last start at Coors Field for the Cincinnati Reds prior to his trade to the Kansas City Royals last July, hurling eight scoreless frames in a win versus the Rockies to improve to 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA over five career starts in Denver. Thanks in part to Cueto's contributions, the Giants (31-20) have won 14 of 16 to move from a 17-18 squad on May 10 to a team that owns the second-best record in the National League. The Rockies are the one NL West opponent that has a winning record against San Francisco this season, however, going 5-4 while outscoring the Giants 57-46 even after Saturday's 10-5 setback.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, CSN Bay Area (San Francisco), ROOT (Colorado)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Johnny Cueto (7-1, 2.38 ERA) vs. Rockies LH Chris Rusin (1-2, 3.93)

Cueto is coming off consecutive complete-game wins against San Diego, including a two-hit shutout on Tuesday when he fanned six to improve to 3-0 with a 0.81 ERA over his last four turns. The one-time All-Star has yielded only two home runs to the 293 batters he has faced and has posted a 5.58:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio thus far - the best mark of his career. Cueto, who has faced division foes in four straight and eight of his 10 outings overall, is 4-2 with a 2.44 ERA in nine starts against the Rockies.

Rusin appears to have righted himself following a horrendous beginning of the month and is coming off a relief appearance Monday in Pittsburgh in which he worked 4 2/3 scoreless innings. The Detroit native turned in a quality start five days earlier at St. Louis, which followed a two-start stretch in which he was tagged for 11 runs and 23 hits in 10 innings. The first of those two poor outings was a no-decision in a 17-7 win in San Francisco in which he surrendered seven runs and 13 hits in 4 1/3 frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Giants are 21-0 when they outhit their opponent this season and the only team that has yet to lose when they do so.

2. CF Charlie Blackmon has reached base safely in 23 straight games and is one of five Colorado regulars with career batting averages of at least .294 against Cueto.

3. San Francisco RF Hunter Pence (hamstring) and 1B Brandon Belt (ankle) each returned from one-game absences with multi-hit games Saturday, combining to go 5-for-10.

GAME: Miami Marlins (25-24) at Atlanta Braves (14-34)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 5:05 PM EST
WHERE: Turner Field, Atlanta, Georgia
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Miami Marlins are failing to make up ground in the National League East due in large part to their inability to solve the division's resident cellar dweller. The Marlins look to prevent being swept by the NL-worst Atlanta Braves for the second time this season when the clubs conclude their three-game series at Turner Field on Sunday.

Nick Markakis has distanced himself from a disastrous stretch (1-for-24, .042) by driving in a pair of runs in each contest of this set while extending his hitting streak versus Miami to nine games. The 32-year-old looks to keep the good times going versus Sunday starter Tom Koehler, against whom he is a blistering 9-for-14 (.643) with four RBIs. While Atlanta's 7-2 triumph on Saturday accounted for just its fourth home win in 24 contests, a primary cause of concern for fourth-place Miami this season has been its record against division rivals (10-17). Derek Dietrich is 8-for-16 (.500) in his last four games overall but just 1-for-9 with a pair of strikeouts versus Sunday starter Julio Teheran.

TV: 5:05 p.m. ET, FSN Florida (Miami), FSN South (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Tom Koehler (2-5, 4.79 ERA) vs. Braves RH Julio Teheran (1-4, 2.57)

Koehler fell to 0-3 in his last five outings after allowing three runs and six hits over five innings in a 4-3 setback against Tampa Bay on Tuesday. The 29-year-old has struggled mightily with his control, issuing five walks in each of his last three turns. Koehler will look for a better performance versus Atlanta after getting shredded for six runs and nine hits in 3 2/3 frames of a 6-4 loss on April 16.

Teheran deserved a better fate on Tuesday as the 25-year-old Colombian struck out a career-best 12 batters while allowing one run and three hits in seven innings of a no-decision versus Milwaukee. Teheran has yielded just four earned runs in his last seven starts but has a 1-2 record to show for it. He has fared well versus Miami, however, posting a 5-2 record in 12 career encounters as the Braves attempt to repeat last month's feat of sweeping the Marlins.

WALK-OFFS

1. Atlanta 3B Gordon Beckham is 6-for-14 (.429) with two homers, five RBIs and four runs scored during his last four contests.

2. Miami OF Marcell Ozuna is riding a 10-game hitting streak.

3. Braves SS Daniel Castro went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in place of Erick Aybar, who on Saturday was put on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised right foot.

GAME: San Diego Padres (20-30) at Arizona Diamondbacks (22-29)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Paul Goldschmidt’s return to form has come just in time for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who will need an extended surge from their top slugger to climb back into the National League West race. The three-time All-Star looks to continue his hot hitting Sunday in the rubber match of a three-game series against the visiting San Diego Padres, who have dropped nine of their last 12 games.

Goldschmidt belted his ninth homer in Saturday’s 8-7 victory and appears ready to put his early-season slump behind him by going 12-for-33 with nine RBI in his last 10 games. The Diamondbacks snapped a four-game losing skid with Saturday’s win but have plenty of work ahead of them in the NL West, where they've fallen to fourth place, nine games behind first-place San Francisco. Expectations were considerably lower for the Padres, who sit 10 games under .500 but have received a spark from third baseman Yangervis Solarte, who has three home runs among seven hits in his last four games. If the rebuilding Padres trade one of their veteran outfielders as expected this summer, they could have a ready replacement in 24-year-old Hunter Renfroe, who is hitting .316 with 11 home runs for Triple-A El Paso.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, FSN San Diego, FSN Arizona

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres LH Drew Pomeranz (4-4, 1.70 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks RH Archie Bradley (1-0, 7.84)

Pomeranz continued to impress while pitching seven innings of two-hit shutout ball with four walks and four strikeouts against San Francisco on Monday. The 27-year-old has relied on an improved curveball while allowing a total of 13 hits in 31 innings over five starts this month. Goldschmidt is 4-for-9 with a home run against Pomeranz, who is 0-2 with a 7.91 ERA in seven career games (four starts) against Arizona, including a 6.55 ERA in four games at Chase Field.

Bradley was recalled from Triple-A Reno to fill the rotation spot vacated by Shelby Miller, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with a right index finger injury. “He’s taken a definite step from last year to this year,” manager Chip Hale told reporters. “Now he’s going to be in there every fifth day for a while.” Bradley earned the call after posting five consecutive quality starts with a 1.58 ERA for Reno, including eight shutout innings in his last start May 21.

WALK-OFFS

1. San Diego RF Matt Kemp has homered in back-to-back games, and his 33 home runs against Arizona ranks second behind the Dodgers’ Adrian Gonzalez among active players.

2. Arizona LHP Edwin Escobar will be recalled from Triple-A Reno to make his first major league start Monday against Houston.

3. The Padres traded 1B James Loney to the Mets for cash considerations.

GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (26-24) at New York Mets (28-20)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 29 - 8:00 PM EST
WHERE: Citi Field, New York City, New York
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

While New York Mets nemesis Chase Utley has been the hearing it from the Citi Field faithful, nary a peep of late has come from the opposition against Los Angeles Dodgers teammate Clayton Kershaw. The three-time National League Cy Young Award winner looks to continue his scintillating run on Sunday night as visiting Los Angeles plays the rubber match of its three-game series versus New York.

Kershaw improved to 7-0 lifetime against the Mets on May 12, scattering three hits and striking out 13 in a 5-0 rout for the second of three shutouts in his last five outings. While Kershaw's recent performances have drawn rave reviews, Utley has turned down the sound of the Mets fans by driving in nine of the Dodgers' 14 runs in the first two games of this series. The 37-year-old was unfazed after Noah Syndergaard's fastball sailed behind him as his grand slam highlighted his two-homer performance in Saturday's 9-1 win. Utley also has tormented Sunday starter Bartolo Colon, against whom he went deep on May 12 and is 10-for-20 (.500) in his career.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN2

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (7-1, 1.48 ERA) vs. Mets RH Bartolo Colon (4-3, 3.44)

Kershaw has yielded three earned runs in his last 42 innings, fanning a staggering 55 batters against two walks in that stretch. The 28-year-old saw his franchise-best streak of double-digit strikeouts snapped after six starts as he fanned only seven in a two-hitter versus Cincinnati on Monday. New York's Juan Lagares provided his team's lone offense on Saturday with his second homer in as many contests, but the 27-year-old is 0-for-10 lifetime against Kershaw.

Colon turned in his worst start of the season versus Los Angeles on May 12, falling to 2-6 lifetime against the club after allowing five runs in as many innings of a 5-0 setback. The 43-year-old Dominican has struggled mightily versus Adrian Gonzalez, who is 12-for-27 (.444) against the hurler and 6-for-9 (.667) with three runs scored in this series. Colon pitched significantly better in his last outing on Monday, yielding just one run in seven frames of a 7-1 victory over Washington.

WALK-OFFS

1. New York GM Sandy Alderson told reporters that he has "a little bit of concern" about the health of veteran 3B David Wright, who sat out Saturday's tilt with neck discomfort after being examined by a team doctor.

2. Los Angeles 3B Justin Turner is 1-for-8 with four strikeouts in this series and 4-for-18 (.222) against his former team this season.

3. The Mets acquired James Loney from San Diego for cash considerations on Saturday in the wake of fellow 1B Lucas Duda being sidelined by a stress fracture in his lower back.
