GAME: Washington Nationals (25-17) at Atlanta Braves (18-22)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 1:35 PM EST
WHERE: SunTrust Park, Cumberland, Georgia

The Atlanta Braves endured their worst nightmare Wednesday when star Freddie Freeman suffered a fractured left wrist, but they head into Sunday’s series finale against the Washington Nationals eyeing a three-game home sweep of the National League East leaders. Atlanta, which entering the weekend had lost 18 of its past 22 meetings with the Nationals, captured a 5-2 victory Saturday to move within six games of Washington.

Left fielder Matt Kemp homered for the second consecutive contest and is hitting .365 (31-85) in 20 games since April 28, with hits in 18 of those 20, as the Braves have won seven of their past nine. The Nationals have lost a season-high four in a row and right fielder Bryce Harper is 1-for-16 in that span after collecting one hit Saturday. Shortstop Trea Turner finished 2-for-4, raising his career average against the Braves to .438 in 21 games. Washington relievers surrendered two more runs Saturday in three innings, and have given up nine runs in 11 innings during the losing streak.

TV: 1:35 p.m. ET, MASN 2 (Washington), FSN South (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Stephen Strasburg (4-1, 3.42 ERA) vs. Braves LH Jaime Garcia (1-2, 4.65)

Strasburg has grinded his way to a 2-0 record through three starts this month, allowing three runs on four hits with only three strikeouts in six innings to beat Pittsburgh on Tuesday. For the month, he has posted a 4.08 ERA and averaged 109 pitches per outing, compared to a 3.09 ERA and 99.6 pitches per appearance in five April starts. Strasburg struck out a season-high 10 in defeating the Braves in Atlanta on April 20, allowing two runs in seven innings.

Garcia has surrendered four runs in each of his first two May starts, getting a no-decision after giving up four runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings Tuesday at Toronto. He has struggled with his control, posting a 1.14 strikeout-to-walk ratio in his first season with the Braves after having a 2.77 ratio in eight seasons with St. Louis. Garcia makes just his second home start of the season; he allowed two runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings in an April 17 no-decision against the Padres in his first home turn.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Braves traded for St. Louis 1B Matt Adams on Saturday; Adams, who is hitting .292 with one homer and seven RBIs in 48 at-bats this season, is expected to join the Braves in time for Sunday’s game.

2. Nationals CF Michael Taylor is hitting .319 since taking over for the injured Adam Eaton on April 29.

3. Atlanta 3B Rio Ruiz hit his first major-league homer Saturday, a two-run shot in the second inning, and finished 2-for-4.

GAME: Kansas City Royals (17-24) at Minnesota Twins (21-17)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Target Field, Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Kansas City Royals are a big reason why the Minnesota Twins find themselves atop the American League Central in 2017, and the Twins' most recent victory in this rivalry may be just the lift they needed to catch some fire at home. Following its third home postponement of the season Saturday, Minnesota eyes an eighth straight victory against Kansas City in the first game of a straight doubleheader on Sunday.

The Twins improved to 6-0 against the Royals this season courtesy of Friday's 4-3, 10-inning triumph, as pinch hitter Kennys Vargas belted a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth inning and Jorge Polanco ended it with a sacrifice fly in the 10th. Minnesota improved to 10-12 at home as a result to tie a club record for its longest winning streak against the Royals and further distance itself from the team it went 4-15 against a season ago. The Twins' 10th comeback victory of the season overshadowed one of the best performances in Jorge Bonifacio's young career, as the rookie outfielder hit a two-run homer, had an outfield assist and made a jumping catch at the wall to rob Brian Dozier of an extra-base hit. The loss dropped the Royals to 3-13 against division rivals.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, FSN Kansas City, FSN North (Minnesota)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals RH Chris Young (0-3, 7.27 ERA) vs. Twins RH Phil Hughes (4-2, 5.23)

Young struggled for a second straight start last Sunday against Baltimore, surrendering five runs on six hits - including a pair of home runs - over 3 2/3 innings. In 15 starts since the beginning of last season, the 37-year-old Princeton alum is 1-8 with an 8.74 ERA, allowing 55 runs on 80 hits - including 29 home runs - in 56 2/3 frames. Dozier is 2-for-20 with a homer and Joe Mauer is 5-for-22 against Young, who is 2-3 in 15 appearances (nine starts) versus the Twins despite a 2.27 ERA and 1.03 WHIP.

Hughes won four of his five starts in April before opening May with a pair of no-decisions prior to Tuesday's loss to Colorado in which he gave up a season-high five earned runs in five frames. The 2010 All-Star, who has struggled with his changeup command over his last two outings according to manager Paul Molitor, is 0-2 with 6.00 ERA in three home turns. Hughes is 8-5 with a 5.01 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) versus the Royals, including his last victory on April 30 when he yielded four runs and 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mauer needs to score one more run to tie Kent Hrbek (903) for the fourth on the club's all-time list (since 1961).

2. Kansas City SS Alcides Escobar will break Paul Schaal’s team record of 212 straight starts if he appears in the lineup for Sunday's first game

3. Minnesota 3B Miguel Sano went 2-for-4 in the opener to maintain his .500 batting average against Kansas City in 2017. Fourteen of Sano's 30 RBIs this season have come against the Royals.

GAME: Cleveland Indians (22-19) at Houston Astros (29-14)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 2:10 PM EST
WHERE: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas

Lonnie Chisenhall looks to continue his power surge when the visiting Cleveland Indians go for a three-game sweep of the major league-best Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon. Chisenhall homered in both games of the series, including a solo blast in the Indians’ 3-0 triumph Saturday, and has gone deep four times in the last six contests with eight RBIs in that stretch.

Cleveland, which is 4-1 against the Astros in 2017, has allowed three runs in the last two games after permitting 20 in the previous three outings against Tampa Bay. Danny Salazar hopes to extend the trend of strong pitching for Cleveland and begin turning his season around while Houston will counter with fellow right-hander Joe Musgrove, who goes for his third straight win in the series finale. The Astros, who are off to their best 43-game start in history (29-14), have managed just eight hits and are 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position in the series after winning nine of the previous 10 contests. Jose Altuve had one of Houston’s three hits Saturday to extend his hitting streak to six games - going 10-for-24 during that stretch - and raise his average to .308.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, SportsTime Ohio (Cleveland), ROOT (Houston)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Indians RH Danny Salazar (2-4, 5.66 ERA) vs. Astros RH Joe Musgrove (3-3, 4.57)

Salazar has yet to find the form that led to a spot on the American League All-Star team last season and surrendered five runs, including five homers combined, in each of his last two outings. The 27-year-old Dominican boasts 62 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings, but has given up 45 hits and 20 walks while making it past six innings once in eight starts. Jake Marisnick is 3-for-7 versus Salazar, who is 0-0 with a 1.47 ERA in three career outings against Houston.

Musgrove has allowed two or fewer runs in four of his eight starts, including the last two as he gave up three combined in victories against Miami and Atlanta. The 24-year-old Californian permitted eight homers overall this season, but Miami did not go deep against him in the last outing. Edwin Encarnacion is 1-for-5 with three strikeouts versus Musgrove, who is facing Cleveland for the first time and is 1-3 with a 4.78 ERA at home in 2017.

WALK-OFFS

1. Houston LHP Dallas Keuchel is expected to miss one start after being placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 17, with a pinched nerve in his neck.

2. Cleveland 2B Jason Kipnis knocked in one of the runs Saturday and is 10-for-26 during a six-game hitting streak with three homers and eight RBIs.

3. Astros OF-DH Carlos Beltran, who went 0-for-3 Saturday, is one RBI behind Fred McGriff (1,550) for 46th on the major league’s all-time list.

Preview: Giants at Cardinals
GAME: San Francisco Giants (19-25) at St. Louis Cardinals (21-19)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 2:15 PM EST
WHERE: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri

While offense has been difficult to come by in general all year for the San Francisco Giants, their knack for getting it when they need it lately has them enjoying their best stretch of the season by far. The Giants eye their eighth win in nine tries and look to complete their first sweep in 2017 on Sunday, when they wrap up their three-game series against the host St. Louis Cardinals.

San Francisco is among the National League's worst teams away from home at 8-15 and ranks last with 151 runs, but the tide of its season began to turn a bit when it used a four-run ninth inning against the New York Mets on May 10 to post its first road victory when trailing in the frame in over a year. The Giants notched their second such win in as many tries in the series opener on Friday, when they scored all six of their runs after the sixth inning, and Christian Arroyo's two-run double in the 13th broke a scoreless tie in Saturday's 3-1 triumph. While San Francisco's recent surge has given the team some hope following its dreadful 12-24 start, St. Louis has dropped a season-high four straight - including two in 13 innings. The Cardinals' starting pitching has yet to give up a run over 15 frames in this series, but the bullpen has been pounded for nine - eight earned - in seven innings and has posted a 6.75 ERA overall during the skid.

TV: 2:15 p.m. ET, MLB Network, NBC Sports Bay Area (San Francisco), FSN Midwest (St. Louis)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Matt Cain (3-1, 4.04 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Adam Wainwright (3-3, 5.31)

Cain became the 12th pitcher in club history to reach 2,000 career innings Monday, getting his first win since April 24 after throwing a season-high 112 pitches while permitting one run and five hits over 6 2/3 frames versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. The three-time All-Star has allowed fewer than three earned runs in six of his last seven turns, although his two prior road outings were his worst over that stretch. Cain has struggled more versus the Cardinals than any other NL team over his career, going 2-5 with a 6.19 ERA in 12 games (11 starts).

Wainwright proved to be effectively wild last Sunday in a victory against the Chicago Cubs, yielding only four hits while walking a season-high four across seven scoreless frames. The outing marked only the second time this year the former 20-game winner, who threw only 56 of his 102 pitches for strikes, worked at least six innings. Buster Posey (6-for-17) and Joe Panik (3-for-9) both have enjoyed some success versus Wainwright, who is 5-7 with a 3.27 ERA in 14 appearances (12 starts) against the Giants.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty drove home the team's lone run in his return to the lineup Saturday. It marked his first action since landing on the 10-day disabled list May 5 with a hamstring injury.

2. Of the Giants' major league-low 33 home runs, 27 have been solo shots - including each of the last 13.

3. St. Louis traded 1B Matt Adams to Atlanta for INF Juan Yepez on Saturday.

Preview: Brewers at Cubs
GAME: Milwaukee Brewers (25-18) at Chicago Cubs (21-20)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 2:20 PM EST
WHERE: Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois

The Milwaukee Brewers want to prove their position atop the National League Central is not a fluke, and an abbreviated series sweep on the road against the defending World Series champions would help make their case. The Brewers aim to complete a sweep of a rain-shortened two-game series with the Cubs on Sunday.

The Brewers waited out a two-hour rain delay before outlasting the Cubs for a 6-3 in Friday’s opener - their 10th win in 12 games - but the weather didn’t allow the teams to get in Saturday’s scheduled contest. The Cubs had won three straight before dropping the opener and are trying to avoid their third series loss at home after dropping only six series at Wrigley Field all of last season. Both teams will send Saturday’s scheduled starters to the mound for the finale, with Milwaukee’s Chase Anderson opposing fellow right-hander Jake Arrieta. The Cubs should have outfielder Jason Heyward back in the lineup - he was scheduled to return from the disabled list and start Saturday - while Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun also is eligible to return from the DL on Sunday.
TV: 2:20 p.m. ET, MLB Network, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee), WGN (Chicago)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Chase Anderson (2-0, 3.43 ERA) vs. Cubs RH Jake Arrieta (4-3, 5.44)

Anderson has received five straight no-decisions since beating the Cubs on April 17 in Chicago. The 29-year-old recorded quality starts in three of his first four outings but has failed to do so in his last four and hasn’t made it out of the sixth inning in his last three times out. Anderson is 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA in four starts against the Cubs.

Arrieta has lost two straight starts and three of his last four. The 31-year-old surrendered a pair of home runs while allowing four runs and seven hits over six frames in a loss at St. Louis on Sunday and has posted just one quality start in his last six outings. Arrieta is 7-4 with a 3.00 ERA in 13 starts against the Brewers.

WALK-OFFS

1. Milwaukee 3B Travis Shaw is 14-for-40 with two homers during a career-best 10-game hitting streak.

2. Cubs 2B/OF Ben Zobrist has reached base in 18 consecutive games.

3. Brewers 1B Eric Thames returned to the lineup Friday after missing four straight starts with strep throat and was 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored.

Preview: Red Sox at Athletics
GAME: Boston Red Sox (21-21) at Oakland Athletics (20-23)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 4:05 PM EST
WHERE: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California

The Oakland Athletics have used the long ball to get the best of the visiting Boston Red Sox and will aim for a four-game sweep when the teams cap their series Sunday afternoon. After hitting three home runs in a series-opening victory and then using a walk-off homer by Mark Canha to win Friday's matchup in 10 innings, the A's went deep four times in Saturday's 8-3 triumph.

Canha had one of the blasts and Khris Davis launched his team-leading 13th as Oakland won for the fourth time in its last five games. The Athletics finished the contest with an American League-leading 63 homers, nearly double Boston's AL-worst 37. Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez will try to slow down Oakland's bats when he gets the start opposite Andrew Triggs. Rodriguez has allowed only one home run in his last five starts, four of which resulted in wins for Boston.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, NESN (Boston), NBC Sports California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox LH Eduardo Rodriguez (2-1, 3.05 ERA) vs. Athletics RH Andrew Triggs (5-2, 2.12)

Rodriguez has lasted exactly six innings in each of his last five outings while posting a 2.40 ERA. He allowed three runs on five hits at St. Louis on Tuesday to pick up his second victory of the season. The 24-year-old tossed eight scoreless innings - allowing only an infield single with two outs in the eighth - in his one prior start against the Athletics, which came Sept. 4 in Oakland.

Triggs pulled into the weekend's action ranked fourth in the AL in ERA and he has allowed one run in six frames in each of his last two outings. The Tennessee native has walked six batters over his last three starts after issuing just three free passes over his previous four appearances. Triggs has given up four runs (two earned) in four innings against Boston spread over three encounters last year.

WALK-OFFS

1. Boston manager John Farrell indicated that 2B Dustin Pedroia - who has a 23-game hitting streak against Oakland - may get a day off Sunday.

2. Athletics 1B Yonder Alonso (knee) has missed three straight games and is day-to-day.

3. Red Sox LHP David Price (elbow) is scheduled to make one more rehab start for Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday before rejoining the rotation.

GAME: Chicago White Sox (19-22) at Seattle Mariners (20-24)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington

The Chicago White Sox appear to have found the formula for success on the road and look to make it three wins in a row when they visit the Seattle Mariners on Sunday for the finale of their four-game series. Chicago began its 10-game trek with four losses as its slide on the road reached seven contests before it outscored Seattle 18-2 in back-to-back triumphs.

Avisail Garcia continued his torrid pace on the road trip Saturday, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs in Chicago's 16-1 victory. The 25-year-old Venezuelan, who leads the American League with a .357 average, is 11-for-23 with nine RBIs over his last five games after going 0-for-3 in the opener of the trek. Seattle is hoping to conclude its seven-game homestand with a winning record and rediscover its offense, as it scored a total of 21 runs over the first four contests before fizzling out in the last two. Taylor Motter recorded two of the Mariners' five hits on Saturday while infielder Mike Freeman became the franchise's sixth position player to pitch in a game as eight of Chicago's nine batters registered a multi-hit performance.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, CSN Chicago, ROOT (Seattle)

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Derek Holland (3-3, 2.70 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Chris Heston (0-0, 22.50)

Holland did not factor in the decision against the Angels in Los Angeles on Tuesday after yielding three runs over six innings. The 30-year-old native of Ohio has allowed 25 runs this season, with nearly half (14) being unearned. Holland has had considerable success against Seattle in his career, going 12-6 with on shutout and a 3.71 ERA in 21 starts and four relief appearances.

Heston will be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to make his first major-league start since 2015 with San Francisco. The 29-year-old Floridian made his debut for Seattle on April 25, when he was tagged for five runs and seven hits over two innings of relief at Detroit. Heston, who is 2-1 with one shutout and a 3.41 ERA in six starts this year, will be facing Chicago for the first time in his career.

WALK-OFFS

1. Garcia joined Pat Seerey (1948) and Robin Ventura (1991) as the only members of the White Sox to record four extra-base hits and six RBIs in a game.

2. Chicago is finalizing a deal with Cuban OF Luis Robert, a 19-year-old free agent who is considered the second-best international prospect.

3. Seattle 1B Danny Valencia was not in the starting lineup Saturday due to a sore wrist, which he injured the previous night.

GAME: Miami Marlins (15-27) at Los Angeles Dodgers (25-19)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 4:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California

In case anyone forgot, Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton reminded everyone Saturday about his great affinity for Dodger Stadium. Stanton looks to add to his gaudy career numbers at Chavez Ravine in Sunday’s series finale against Los Angeles, which had its three-game winning streak come to an end with Saturday’s 10-6 loss.

A native of Southern California, Stanton contributed three doubles and three RBIs in Saturday’s victory and has a lifetime average of .325 with nine home runs at Dodger Stadium. Rookie J.T. Riddle continued to impress by going 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs for the Marlins, who snapped their five-game losing streak but still have lost 19 of their last 24. Los Angeles right fielder Yasiel Puig missed Saturday’s game due to lower back soreness but was available to pinch-hit and could return to the starting lineup as soon as Sunday. The Dodgers have received a spark over the last two weeks from Yasmani Grandal, who has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games - batting .396 with one homer and 13 RBIs over that stretch.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, FSN Florida (Miami), SportsNet LA, KTLA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Vance Worley (2016: 2-2, 3.53 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Brandon McCarthy (3-1, 4.15)

Worley is making his season debut after being promoted from Triple-A New Orleans, where he went 2-5 with a 4.43 ERA in eight starts covering 44 2/3 innings. The California native spent last year with Baltimore, making four starts and 31 relief appearances. Worley is 1-0 with a 5.63 ERA in four career games (three starts) against the Dodgers and could remain in Miami's rotation with a solid outing on Sunday.

McCarthy is looking to bounce back from his worst start of the campaign on Monday, when he allowed a season-high six runs over 5 2/3 innings in an 8-4 loss to San Francisco. The 33-year-old was making his first start in 15 days after landing on the disabled list with a separated left shoulder. McCarthy is facing Miami for the first time since 2013 and owns a 1-5 record and 2.43 ERA in nine career starts against National League East opponents.

WALK-OFFS

1. Los Angeles LF Cody Bellinger has belted a team-high nine home runs in just 24 games.

2. Miami RHP Odrisamer Despaigne was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans to make room for Worley.

3. Dodgers 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) is expected to be activated from the disabled list for Tuesday’s series opener against St. Louis.

GAME: Arizona Diamondbacks (26-18) at San Diego Padres (15-30)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 4:40 PM EST
WHERE: Petco Park, San Diego, California

The Arizona Diamondbacks have learned that immediately pouncing on an opponent is a sure recipe for victory. Arizona will attempt to use the method to complete a three-game sweep when it visits the San Diego Padres on Sunday for the finale.

The Diamondbacks scored eight runs in the first inning of Friday's 10-1 victory and jumped on the Padres early again on Saturday, crossing the plate five times in the opening frame en route to a 9-1 triumph. Prior to arriving in San Diego, Arizona had scored only 17 first-inning runs in 42 contests this season. David Peralta has been swinging a hot bat, going 6-for-9 in the series after a 4-for-5 performance on Saturday that also saw him score three runs. Cory Spangenberg recorded two of the four hits for San Diego, which has scored a total of seven runs while losing five straight after opening its seven-game homestand with a 6-5 victory over Milwaukee.

TV: 4:40 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona, FSN San Diego

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Zack Godley (1-0, 1.93 ERA) vs. Padres LH Clayton Richard (2-5, 4.86)

Godley has been solid in each of his three starts this season, allowing four runs and nine hits while striking out 19 over 18 2/3 innings. The 27-year-old native of South Carolina limited the New York Mets to one run and one hit in 6 2/3 frames on Monday but struggled with his control, issuing five walks after handing out only four free passes over 12 innings in his first two outings. Godley is 1-1 with a 6.35 ERA in six career appearances (three starts) against San Diego, including a no-decision on April 26 in which he gave up two runs over five innings.

Richard's winless streak reached five starts on Tuesday, when he was tagged for six runs and 10 hits over six innings in a loss to Milwaukee. The 33-year-old from Indiana has not won since limiting Arizona to one run over 6 2/3 frames while recording a season-high eight strikeouts on April 20. Richard fell to 9-4 lifetime against the Diamondbacks five days later as he surrendered six runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 frames at Arizona.

3. Arizona activated C Chris Iannetta from the 7-day concussion list and optioned RHP Silvino Bracho to Reno.

GAME: Kansas City Royals (17-24) at Minnesota Twins (21-17)
DATE/TIME: Sunday, May 21 - 6:10 PM EST
WHERE: Target Field, Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Kansas City Royals are a big reason why the Minnesota Twins find themselves atop the American League Central in 2017, and the Twins' most recent victory in this rivalry may be just the lift they needed to catch some fire at home. Following a rainout on Saturday, Minnesota will look to continue its season-long dominance against Kansas City in the second game of a straight doubleheader on Sunday to wrap up the teams' three-game set.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Royals RH Ian Kennedy (0-3, 3.03 ERA) vs. Twins LH Adalberto Mejia (0-1, 5.79)

Kennedy (hamstring) is expected to be activated off the disabled list in time to make his first start since a May 4 loss to the Chicago White Sox in which he surrendered five runs (four earned) across 4 1/3 innings. The outing was the worst of six this season from the 32-year-old, who posted a 2.30 ERA in his five April turns. Dozier (4-for-20, two homers) and Joe Mauer (3-for-19, one home run) have each struggled against Kennedy, who is 4-2 with a 3.74 ERA in nine starts versus the Twins.

Mejia is slated to return to the big-league mound for the first time since April 22 after allowing a hit over three scoreless innings for Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday. The 23-year-old rookie struggled in his final turn before his demotion against Detroit, giving up three runs on five hits - including a pair of homers - and three walks despite fanning six over 2 2/3 innings. Mejia's one and only appearance last season came against the Royals, who tagged him for two runs in 2 1/3 frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mauer needs to score one more run to tie Kent Hrbek (903) for the fourth on the club's all-time list (since 1961).

2. Bonifacio is batting only .227 against southpaws, as opposed to .298 versus right-handers.

3. Minnesota 3B Miguel Sano went 2-for-4 in the opener to maintain his .500 batting average against Kansas City in 2017. Fourteen of Sano's 30 RBIs this season have come against the Royals.

The return of Miguel Cabrera coincided with an impressive power show for the Detroit Tigers, who look to take the rubber match of the three-game series against the visiting Texas Rangers on Sunday night. Detroit pounded out four home runs on Saturday, including three in a row in the first inning to snap Texas' 10-game winning streak.

Cabrera went deep after returning to the lineup from a three-game injury absence while J.D. Martinez continued his torrid pace by launching his sixth homer in eight contests since making his season debut on May 12. The Tigers are staring at an 11-game road trip that begins with four against major league-best Houston but first must solve a pitcher that owns them. Rangers ace Yu Darvish has won all six career starts against Detroit and is 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA at Comerica Park. Texas managed only four hits in Saturday's loss after averaging 6.4 runs during its 10-game tear.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, ESPN

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers RH Yu Darvish (4-2, 2.76 ERA) vs. Tigers LH Matthew Boyd (2-3, 5.18)

Darvish improved to 3-0 during a five-start unbeaten streak by striking out nine while permitting one run and four hits over seven innings to beat Philadelphia last time out. It was his fifth quality start in a row, a span during which he has allowed a total of nine runs, and marked the eighth time in nine outings he's worked at least six frames. Cabrera is 6-for-18 with three doubles versus Darvish.

Boyd will attempt to bounce back from a dreadful performance against Baltimore in which he tied a season low with 2 1/3 innings while getting battered for seven runs and eight hits. That ended a string of three straight quality starts for the 26-year-old, who is 1-3 with a 5.24 ERA in four career turns against the Rangers. Robinson Chirinos has belted two homers off Boyd in four at-bats.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rangers RF Nomar Mazara has collected 10 RBIs during his nine-game hitting streak.

2. Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler left Saturday's contest for precautionary reasons due to tightness in his left hamstring.

3. Rangers C Jonathan Lucroy has hit safely in eight straight games.

PREDICTION: Rangers 5, Tigers 3
