1. Think they are trapped in their current economic condition and not doing the simple things to get them into a better economic condition
2. Breed
3. Fail to take personal responsibility
4. Commit Crime. I don't mean this just due to the consequences of when they are caught. When people do things that they know are wrong, it eats at their own soul. They lose so much respect for themselves that they live a miserable life and think they don't deserve better.
5. Overspend (I was reluctant to put this in here because the middle class and the rich also do this but it is so much more harmful to the poor). One or two years of true sacrifice can really make a huge financial difference.
6. Not getting themselves a DL or ID. This leads to so many problems .. no bank account, limited ability to travel if needed, use of check cashing establishments, etc.
7. Surrounding themselves with losers and/or emulating the behavior of losers.
8. Repeating the cycle for their offspring - Not marrying and not supporting children. A family unit is a very stabilizing thing in life. It is good for the parent to have responsibility and take on that responsibility, and it is important for the kid to see the parent being responsible.
9. Live in expensive places.
10. Drugs - it is an unnecessary LARGE expense and it makes one less likely to change #'s 1-9

I guess #3 is the big one. If you work hard and make a few sacrifices, building a nice nest egg really isn't that hard. If you are working just 50 hours a week, you have plenty of time to better yourself into a higher paying position.

Good list....I think I would put #7 at the top as that is where one receives the supporting chorus as to why all the other listed behaviors might be cool

2 percent would actually be a fair and reasonable fee for the service provided.

I've never used such services but would expect something close to 20 percent, at least 10 percent.

Paying any fees for banking is stupid !

I'm either really smart or the average person Is really stupid, I lean to the latter, I ain't no genius, just an ordinary average guy, cue up Joe Walsh... Pick up the dog shit hope it is hard.

I saw a guy doing that a few days ago at the grocery store, just giving away 11 percent and already rolled .

To top it off there was a bank in the store no more than 50 meters away.
Check the coin returns on those machines too, there is oftentimes $2-3 sitting there, sometimes silver, often Canadian which are easily spent manually.

At the worst case you can get rid of unwanted coins by feeding them into the self checkout machines at stores.rolled coins spend just fine to, any cashier will take a roll or two as payment no problem.

check cashing services..i think they take 2%!!!!

In college I worked for a paycheck advanced company where you could get up to $400.00 advanced on your check, but you paid to pay back $440.00 within 2 weeks. We had people that never could get caught up to pay the full $440.00 so every 2 weeks they would come back, pay the $440.00 but then do it again to get $400.00 back in the same transaction. People did that over and over and some for over a year straight. They paid over $1,000 in interested basically to get the initial $400.00.

We did check cashing but the first time it was a 10% fee, then 5% 2nd time, then 2%. Huge ripoff of a company but people came daily to do both the above and cash their checks. Some that did the above drove up in cars they could not afford. Felt terrible working there and only lasted 6 months.

I did sleep with the assistant manager a few times so it wasn't all bad I guess

Recently overheard an older couple complaining their bank charged them a fee to take a withdraw to access their SS funds.
If you have the magic of direct deposit (SSI/SSD) lots of banks run promos for bonuses based on having a DD ... why anyone would pay a bank any fees is beyond me

Direct deposit is almost mandatory these days, I don't think I've had a paper check since the 80's. I don't think I had any sort of check in a few years, I can go years without needing to go to bank, I've had my current checking account with them for maybe 5 years, never once wrote a check for Anything, still have the 5 or so starter checks they give you

Generally the bigger the bank, the more they try to screw you . BOA is the worst, they will charge you $5 if you walk in and cash a check drawn on that bank

Small savings banks are the best for service, the kind of places that have only a few branches. They will do stuff like give you money orders, travelers checks, coin wrappers, check registers, pens, coffee, fresh baked cookies, candy, maybe an envelope, or pretty much anything within reason you request all for free.

I dont think businesses realize how far that little shit goes..gimme a cookie and a cup of coffee and ill come in when I really don't have to. I'll add if you do write checks you really should be buying from a 3rd party..i ordered checks this past week and i guess I accidentally ordered like 500 and I think it was like $16. These will Last me till.im.dead but if you ordered 500 checks from your bank it would be probably over 100 bucks
