Alright I'm guilty in this to. But I wonder. Why do other men/guys/friends/male strangers call someone any of these names. They have been around FOREVER!!

guy, boss, chief, mack, jack, sport, champ, duece? My dad came home the other day and some service customer walked in and said to my dad "hey chief" and he was really pissed. He said to me when he got home, "if you don't know my name then don't call me chief, boss or guy. He brought it up to me when he got home and we got to talking. These terms have been around forever, anyone get bothered when someone calls you one of these names? Or can anyone think of any others?

My boss at work calls all his customers boss. Not really sure why he does it. Just always says things like " here you go boss". Doesn't bother me at all. I personally am never called any of them names.

2 questions.

1. even though your not callled any of these names, if u were, would it bother you?

2. I'm also trying to figure out why people use these names? Like, where did they originate from?

i imagine your owner uses the word boss with his customers since their buisness pays him, basically they are his boss. also to probably make the customer feel like they are in charge of the purchase.

Per southpark - "Hey Guy. I'm not your guy, buddy! I'm not your buddy, pal! I'm not your pal, friend!"

Clearly Canadians made up all these stupid names.

Holmes , Bro, Dude, Chief, Brohelm and Hoss ... but I usually rotate the main five or six every month or so ...

I don't know but why will a Mexican in a workplace call you amigo day after day after day even when you have told them your name repeatedly. "My name is John, Fransico, my name is John." "OK Amigo see you tomorrow."
