Come on Rockets!!!

We need one more banger at the #4 position.

Anyone still out there or we going to trade?

been done. we acquired Luis Scola from the spurs. Best player in Europe that wasn't in the NBA last year. Spurs drafted him couple years back but were never able to buy him out of his club deal.

Morey's done an EXCELLENT job so far. We will be dealing Lucas III and hopefully Alston as well as resigning Hayes before camp.

Reports are he is older and wiser. He can still ball.

Exactly, he hasn’t forgotten how to play the game folks. He is a great rebounding guard, can dunk on anybody, one of the best crossover moves in the game, has 3 point range, and gets to the rim. He is healthy now and I expect to see the old Francis we once knew as "Franchise". Difference between Francis now and the Francis post rockets era is he will be motivated and healthy.

When he left the rockets and went to Orlando, he was still ballin like an all-star. That’s because he was still happy. He had his running mate Cuttino and had just bought a house in beautiful Florida. I can remember him having at least 1 highlight almost every night with the magic about half way into that season. When his career started going down hill was when the Magic owner decided to trade Mobley out of no where for Doug Christie! That really pissed Francis off and it was reported that he cried about it and refused to come off the bench during a game. So then they were forced to ship him off and he ended up at the bottom of the league with the Knicks.

So its understandable why he fell off. Having to go thru all that after an nba playoff season with the rockets and having to leave a team with a dominant center like yao who he was also becoming good friends with and end up at a dead end with the knicks, I mean I would be like f-it too and just get paid. Then there were also injuries he was dealing with.

You just don’t become a franchise player; a 3 time all-star and then suddenly drop off the face of the earth. Yeah players get worst over time as they get old but he’s still young. Only 2 years older than tmac and 3 years older than yao. Back when he was an all-star with the rockets his only real issue was his turnovers. Being he is a lot more experienced and doesn’t have to be the top playmaker with yao and tmac on the team this is a great pick up. This is a BLOCKBUSTER MOVE imo. Rockets are getting an all-star who wants to win and desperate to prove himself to everyone he is still Stevie Franchise!!!!! Oh yeah and we got him for cheap. Now that van done-D is out of the way, I’m ready for a big big season. Things are definitely starting to fall into place in Houston. The west better be ready.

He is a far cry from the Stevie "Franchise" player we knew....I don't see how he can serve in a real productive role.

exactly. Francis has to realise in order for the rockets to be successful, Ming has to be the center of the attentions. The only way Franchise would be perfect for the Rockets is to come off the bench, they need a true pass first pg, they don't have one yet. He is the perfect player for the Warriors, not for any team who has championship ambitions.

You are a pass first point guard only if you want to be. Its not something you have in you, not something you learn. Just have to have the mindset. It helps if you have ability to know how to pass as well. He can drive to the hoop draw help and dish. That we know. In the past he was always the top go to guy. Yao has turned into that guy now and francis will realize that once he gets to houston. He will see the development in yao both on the court and in the locker room and notice the improvement in him. Once that happens he will be fine with the notion that this is yao's team. Anyway, if he can decide to sign with a team for less money than he could have got that shows where his mind is. If your willing to give up a few million your willing to pass.

Kick alston back to the curb where he belongs. Hes a street ball player and always will be. Never liked him. Im trying to win a championship here not an and 1 contract. He did produce good games with us but not enough to win me over. Thought he was only taking away mins from Luther who I happen to like. Has been a while since I can say the rockets finally have a bench. Need one more big man and we are set.

Well I am calling to get season tickets again this year. I may have to get in the upper level however. Gas has gone up so much that driving 90 miles to the games has gotten expensive

Any possible trade next? They have too many pg and they need someone inside that can help Yao out.

Good stuff, but seems like you would just post Steve's agent. And he went with less money to burn you anyway, so the fantasy write up is fantasy. Let me know when the big three are on the injured list.

You've just highlighted 3 of the most discipline players in recent memory, and you believe Francis belongs?

You were saying since we dont have a true first pg that going after francis is not a move a championship team would make. Im just stating that he avgs more assist than those players and they won championships.

few thoughts here:

no one knows who the starting pg will be. But it goes without saying the position has been upgraded. Also no team is immune from injuries and we finally have depth. and a pass first pg isn't what the Rockets NEED, the Rockets NEED a point guard who will make an open jump shot.
Rocket pgs just bring up the ball and run the offense. don't worry the ball works its way to Yao and Tracy, but double and triple teams have left our point guard open the past 3 seasons, WIDE OPEN. Alston ranked among the bottom of PGs when it came to FG% and 3point%, although he ranked among the top when it came to FG attempts.

Now insert Mike James who is just 1 season removed from LEADING THE WHOLE LEAGUE in 3point% and Steve Francis. Alston had all the chances in the world the last 2 seasons to prove he could fix his shot but he couldn't.

Another weakness outside of the pg was our bench. Ranked among the bottom 1/3 in their production. So we now have Francis/James, Head, Bonzi Wells, and Hayes coming off the bench. We went from literally no bench to having serious depth.
