Some guys who had big totals LAST March: Mike Zunino (.352, 7 HR that were second only to Kris Bryant); John Mayberry Jr. (.414, 4 HR); Brett Eibner (.500, 6 HR); Pete Kozma (.408). On the other hand, breakout guys like Matt Duffy and Mookie Betts also had big springs.

Interesting story in camp is that of Ronald Torreyes, who has been in 6 organizations and bounced around among three teams -- the Dodgers, Angels and Yankees -- in a three-week period this winter. Joe Girardi today said the 23-year-old from Venezuela had made the team as a utility infielder. Torreyes, who appeared in 8 games for the Dodgers last year, is batting .303 this spring.

After a few days of speculation, some news about recent cuts Bobby Parnell and Casey McGehee: both players, who were released on Monday, have agreed to remain with organization, source confirms to ESPN.com. The players are expected to sign minor-league deals and open in Triple-A Toledo. So it appears the Tigers figured out a way to keep two veterans within the organization while bypassing the need to pay each a $100k retention bonus

Tigers pitcher Matt Boyd has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo, which you can certainly take as a good indication that Shane Greene has won the 5th starter spot. In other pitching news, Bobby Parnell has indeed signed another minor-league contract and is even listed on today's travel list for squad traveling to Sarasota.

Maui prosecutors are moving to dismiss a domestic abuse charge against Rockies SS Jose Reyes. The Deputy Prosecuting Attorney said that she's dropping the case because Reyes' wife isn't cooperating. The trial was scheduled for April 4, Reyes pleaded not guilty to abusing a family or household member.

A source with knowledge of Jose Reyes' domestic abuse case told ESPN's Pedro Gomez that today's news does not mean MLB will let the case go even once prosecutors drop it. The source told Gomez that Reyes' situation is similar to Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman's, where he was suspended 30 games despite no charges being filed.

Jon Lester finished his spring with quite the outing. He struck out 10 in 5 innings while giving up just a hit and walk. And he also homered, an opposite field shot as part of a 7-run fourth inning. This from a player who started out his career 0 for 66 at the plate.

The Cactus League portion of the Dodgers' spring is complete and the team still has not decided on a fifth starter. Carlos Frias, one of the candidates, gave up 4 runs in 3.2 innings Wednesday. Zach Lee is also a candidate to start April 8 at San Francisco.

The Tigers decision to award the 5th starter spot to pitcher Shane Greene appears to be a good one. Greene has a stellar outing against the Orioles, racking up nine strikeouts in total over 5 2/3 scoreless innings. Exits in the sixth inning to well-deserved applause from crowd.
