Just my 2 cents guys. Not only did I collect then I participated in the shows and then started to Promote some card shows. Other than my collection the best part was having Larry Holmes, Catfish Hunter, Rizzuto, Gayle Sayers, Brooks Robinson and Earl Monroe (to name a few) at the shows and getting to meet and talk to them. That was the best part.
Sold most of my cards through teletrade quite a few years ago and now other than some stuff that I want to keep, some tobacco cards, Catfish Rookie, 80-81 Basketball Set etc. I only collect Memorabilia.
Signed pictures, balls, jerseys, unique stuff. Sports and non sport collectibles. Even own a World Series Ring that is my pride and joy.
Still collect a few ETOPPS cards, but that is more a lark than anything.

I have many cards, plus some memorabilia. I had a guy come recently and he told me if I broke all my stuff up on ebay and sold it, I could probably get 1/3 or 1/4 book value of the items if lucky, (around $10K or so). Way too much to post, some older stuff, but mostly stuff from last 25 years.

I have a bunch of cards from the 80's but Neverstop is right. Those cards aren't worth anything now. I was in high school when Bonds' rookie card came out and I thought it was a cool card so I traded some of my friends for their Bonds' cards. I have about 15 of his 87 Topps Rookie card. Big Whoop! It's worth, what, $6.00, tops!

I still buy a pack here and there but my wife thinks it's a waste of money so I don't buy to many.

My best cards are 3 Tony Gwynn rookies (Topps 83), (1) Jerry Rice rookie. I guess it's about an 85 Topps.

I got lucky and pulled a Ladainian Tomlinson's autographed rookie cards a couple years ago. There were only 1500 made so who knows, it might be worth something one day.

That's about it. All my other cards suck. Nothing worth more than $10.00.

good job...i don't really buy boxes to open them anymore. If I want a card, I just buy it off ebay. I did buy a box of 2001 Fleer Ultra trying to get a Vick Rookie (Vick has the hottest cards now), ended up getting a Drew Bledsoe game worn jersey card, and Marques T. (backup to gannon) rookie, and also a Jamar Fletcher (who is this guy) rookie.

anyway,
The hottest cards by player by sport:

Football - Mike Vick
Basketball - Lebron James
Hockey - Tie. Kovulchuk, Heatley, Marian Hossa
Baseball - Albert Pujols

Other Hot Players:

Football - Ricky Williams, Jerry Rice
Basketball - Kobe, Larry Bird
Hockey - Roy, Lemieux, Pre 1990 OPC,
Baseball - Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens

I will go through my Inventory and check. It's been quite a while since I done that. I have not bought anything new, since 1998.
