It was a great chat. I am glad they allowed this drunken Irishman in there as well.

The chat really makes me feel comfortable about Rio/Skybook a book that I have wanted to try but haven't. This should put a lot of things to rest as far as I am concerned.

As far as I am concerned, Mahoney's post says it all. He is a guy who is no longer working for Rio, and he has dispelled every rumor 100% for me. In virtually all cases, you can get the real skinny on a person or a company when a person is no longer working for them because at that juncture, he has nothing to lose. Mahoney and Spiro's words are enough for me to maintain my large balance at Rio with confidence. When Mahoney told me to call all of the books in his post, i simply called a couple, and got a HUGE thumbs up. Looks like desperate Russ has been put in his place again.

quote:
As far as Rio or any book that "can end this bashing anytime", I don't buy that. Why would they be singled out and have to expose stuff like that in the first place, secondly like I said above it means squat anyway. That would be a horrible weapon for every site to have in their pocket. . Bowmans (just for instance) or another book angers us and we demand to see their financials so we can verify they are solid? Until we see it all in an upfront and professional manner we should bash the shit out of them because it's in their hands to prove us wrong? No I don't believe a book deserves to be wrongfully bashed for not exposing thier paperwork to Russ over at MajorWager, Shrink or anyone else. If they do it industry wide that would be one thing, but to demand individual books do it to "clear their name" based on a site asking for it will never happen. When someone has a legit concern post to it, but incidents when $$ and other agendas drive these bash fests it is no good for any of us.

In closing I don't want to dismiss an idea like this about full disclosure. I said yesterday things never get done because of pessimistic posts like mine is here. However other than perhaps discouraging some low budget operators from trying to scam us I don't think full disclosures are going to be worth all the trouble and hassle to put in place. If they want to steal from you they will work a way around anything you can come up with. You can't judge what is in a man's heart. I have been stiffed with some of the most "honorable men" in 3 countries with a 1000 people vouching for them, there are no guarantees here or anywhere else. Never will be. I'd still take my shots with the Spiros of the world over all the bean counters in the world in the long run. An honorable man's word is better than his financials in my book any old day. Just my 02 cents on all this.

Right on the fvcking money, Pat. Great post. Does anybody have a list of the shops that do book-2-book transfer with the Greek?

Ravanaugh - thank you. I read a post at MW about 3 weeks ago that led me to believe I was in your doghouse, LOL. Thought maybe I had a disagreement with you I couldn't recall. Glad it isn't true sir, I am opinionated at times but never have had long term bad feelings about either you or MW. I will argue with them if I feel I am right but beyond that I respect that bunch.

Go Bucks - thanks man. Was a great chat, props to them for that. I even got to catch up with a lot of folks in the side chat rooms, will be there for the next one too. Going to be hard to top Spiro though.

Walk - thank you sir! Always good when a respected guy like you can see where I am coming from at least. I love to spit out my thoughts and hear what others have to say. Exchange of ideas is good for all of us. Anyway here's what someone posted across the street but said it was two weeks old....

Olympic's transfer books:

Carib Sports
Cascade
Casa Blanca
Coastal Sports
Cris
Delmar
Hollywood
Intertops
Pinnacle
Rio/ International Island Skybook
Royal Sports
WSEX (Worldwide Sports Exchange)

Probably can add at least GRANDE and CRIS as well to this list.

I have had countless of LARGE transfers to and from Sportsmarket/Aces Gold. Never had a problem, their money has always been good.

This was after Shrink said they Aces owed tons of people money. I trust Spiro as far as I can throw him. I trust the Shrink far more than I trust Spiro.

You know whats funny is I spoke to Spiro about 2 weeks ago and Spiro brought up a converstion he had with Russ about Rio , Spiro said he told Russ that Olyimpic does big transfers with Rio and he doesn`t have any problems doing business with Rio . Now my question is this , you would think that after a VERY respected leader in this industry tells you that a book is ok to play with that should be good enough....

Railbird,

Thanks for the kudos but this thread really speaks volumes about RIO'S pockets and Russ's lack of integrity...

It's rather pathetic that DAVE had to come on here to defend his ex establishment in order for gamblers to know the truth about RIO & MW...

For RUSS not to divulge his conversation that he had with Spiros weeks ago regarding RIO is dishonest, disgusting, and appalling...

In other words, it is EXTORTION EVERYONE...

After speaking with several bookmakers today, I can assure you that many will be pulling their advertising at MW after football and who can blame then?

They could be the next RIO if they don't renew at MW!!!

In my opinion, RUSS has zero CREDIBILITY left after trying to put a run on the bank against RIO...

Patrick,

My entire point and position which is well documented for over 2 years is that ALL books should be forced to provide audited financial information.

Yes, it is NOT failsafe. But a damn site better than anything that is out there now.

Extortion --- do not buy in to that -- if I was RIO, I would want to show the world that I was as solid as everyone claims. What could be better for business than to see audited statements that show a trust account controled by the auditors with 300% of the balance of the players?

Yes, I know there are problems dealing with the good old USA laws and desires to be able to come and go ---

But you know, Charlie Therwanger had 12 million in balances due and paid only the people that he feared would cause him bodily harm. Everyone stood up for Charlie.

Dave, why did you call all the books you are dealing with and tell them you are no longer associated with RIO. If RIO is that strong, why make the calls?

Why do you call people and tell them you are going to "beat them up" if they keep posting?

How is your ex-partner Dave Duckart doing?

For the record it was reported at MW a few weeks ago that Spiros is still doing transfers with RIO.

Good post Dave

Just for the record , how many books do you have McIrish in as a player?

Russ, who is Dave Duckart? And what does his relationship with Dave Mahoney have to do with all of this. Is this the same Dave that had issues with CRIS?

It is a darn shame that The Rio group is exposed to such claims as they have done so much for us here with CS & contests. What don't kill us will make us stronger Rio.

Russ lets not get off track here , the question to you is simple , we both put up 20k or more , posted with Spiro or Henry , after 1 year if Rio / Skybook are still in business with no LEGITIMATE stiffs or outstanding debts you lose if they go under or have stiff anyone then you win . Simple . Please just answer this question then i`ll be more then happy to move on to other things . I think thats only fair .
