I use the cast iron skillet method way more than my grill now. Sear both sides and 400 degrees in the oven in the cast iron to your given temperature (Medium Rare here,always)...

You’re right about grandmas, and mine needs a good laugh today. I’m gonna show her this water bag method...

Same here, cook with a Cast iron skillet at times. also Sear both sides and through the skillet right into the oven.

I've also used the broiler to cook Steaks, Chops or whatever.

I enjoy cooking/grilling. The wife takes care of the other cooking, ie, Pasta, cutlets , soup, stew, etc..

would never use it. I'm a Grill Master :)

I think we talked about this before, but I just can't see cooking Meat in a bag, in Water
I'm sure it tastes great to some, it's just a turn off for me.

and Yes I could cook a Steak Rare just like the photo. The next time I do, I will post a photo

With Mike here.

I grill. The way the meat is cooked on the outside is just as important as how the meat is cooked on the inside.

Charred outside with red center is always my target.

And I never want to wait an hour and a half or more for my meal unless it's a big piece of meat in the oven and I can smell it.

Veggies on the grill are great too - charred.

I love to grill. Have a green egg and Weber kettle. Do entire meals on the grill all the time.

Fortunately I didn't sign up to cook 7 dinners a week sous vide. Just another tool in the toolbox.

Not knocking it, HC. Just not my style.

If ya like cooking that way all the power to you. Enjoy it.

By the way. I would never cook on a gas grill either. Need charcoal to get the heat hot enough for real good charring. Just me.

You challenge me? Lol. I do it every single time I cook,no challenge to it...
I know you don’t get kickbacks, duh, you’re just overly excited, all good...

Exactly. Like it’s a miracle or something...

Overly excited. Haha, ok.

Yeah I understand there are 100 ways to cook a steak rare. You're usually not gonna get that consistency from edge to edge though. The edges are a different level of doneness than the center.

Yeah gas grills are for pussies. We can agree there.

Got a sous vide about 6 months ago. It's a great option vs grilling when it is -20 outside. I love it, but also love to grill in the summer. Weber charcoal grill with a propane lighter here

I do my steaks on the grill opposite side of the charcoal then move um to direct heat for about a minute on each side with butter.

Heard a lot of good things about the sous vide method. Been wanting to try it but not something I really want buy.
