I mean, come on, let's be realistic here. Saddam, asshole he is, isn't any different in this regard than other leaders, save perhaps Ghandi or Mother Teresa. Let's stick to the stuff that he did that WAS truly barbaric ...

Yes, that would be considered barbaric. Living high on the hog without regard to your citizens is considered greedy and selfish. There is a difference.

Yes a huge difference. Barbaric acts such as the one about the wild dogs,still have a a place on the "things one must not do in order to be moral - even to a lefty, chart."

It's easy to mope around through life, considering most others that have more than you, greedy and selfish.

Are you suggesting that I'm moping? Or that I'm possibly a Saddam sympathiser?

I was just harping on semantics ... I simply don't like exaggerations. That is all. I do believe that Saddam was barbaric, but not for the reason mentioned earlier. I'm rather confused as to what you must have believed me to be saying.

-- Saddam was in a rathole. He had nothing to do with the insurgence, which continues. His capture was little more than a photo-op and a chance for Bush to declare a victory. It was a moral, but not strategic, victory.
