Maybe so, but many would have been under-employed.

This is when the gov't created jobs building things like the Hoover Dam.

America was more of a manufactoring economy. You don't need a college degree to do much of the world. You might need to know a trade, but a lot of that can be taught and learned on the job.

I don't think it would be in the way you are thinking of today.

This only makes it worse for GD2, with everything made more efficiently in China.

There will be nothing left to turn to, there already are few options remaining.

Mom nearly made it she was 16 in 1929 we buried her Sep 11th.

She was very frugal all her life. I think that was due to the depression.

y still got one grandparent alive she's 83

she remembers life being hard and a few things but other than that nothing really

the main thing that came outta it is that they were taught to be fiscal conservatives and were very frugal....they mock things such as credit cards etc........and their generation were the ones that created the america it is today

their kids the spoiled baby boomers went and fucked everything up both in government and the way they lead their lives (very live for today materialistic manner and beyond their means)

maybe its just all part of the cycle of things

kids growing up now will be along the lines of my grandparents generation.....

We can turn to another one of the areas america is leading the world.... Military.

Come up to Northern virginia, maryland,dc some time. You can see the head quarters of Locheed Martin and check out every other defense contracter known to man. We have tons of new planes, tanks, submarines and weapons being built.

It could lead us into our very next war ! :aktion033:ohno:

if we go down hard it will

right now the fed and government are scrambling to avoid that day and put it of for a little while longer and snatch more freedoms from us along the way.....

this bill is going to do jack shit as far as unemployment, housing prices etc....

just will get the banks a little more solvent that's all

the days of handing out credit to anybody with a pulse are over

and with it many parts of the economy are doomed...in the area i like to call shit you don't need...as all the overconsumption needs housing bubbles, easy credit, etc....in order to survive

My deepest condolences to you bro. I lost my father in Feb '07, he was 89. He lived through the Depression and made a wonderful life for his family. God bless them for their determination and commitment to their loved ones, we owe them to turn back the tide of Neocon fascism.

well if we can't learn from them how to live within your means, we are all fucked beyond recognition, PERIOD.

These people were SAVERS and they are directly responsible for all our (country) successes.

We are not savers, and this is the destruction of us all.

That would have her born around 1925, so she'd be 10 in 1935, when things started to get better. Ask somebody a few years older.

My parents ( deceased) were born in 1919 and 1920, lots of stories from them, as they were like 10, when it started.

It was odd having such old parents, as I was born in 1963, almost like grandparents as parents.

Talk to somebody like 90+ about what it was like, if you know anybody like that, that is still mentally sharp.
