This is the biggest problem that people have with soccer in the States. Here in america we like our sports to get to the point and score as often as possible. We have become addicted to the big play. Soccer is about the setup and the development of the play. It's as much of a mental game as it is a physical game. "the beautiful game" is all about the flow and movement around the field. The scoring is much more difficult than anything we have here and the payoff is proportionally sweeter. If you cant enjoy a game like the France South Korea match that ended in a tie last week then, quite simply, soccer is not for you.
Well said, completely agree :toast:
To anybody who thinks soccer's a boring sport because of it's low scoring affairs, and would rather watch NFL "football", have you ever thought about NFL's scoring system??? I think it's a damn joke that actually makes NFL seem more exciting than it really is.
You get 6 pts for a touchdown and 1 extra point for a field goal? Seriously, which clown came up with those figures? Why not 2 or 3pts for a touchdown, or 9pts if you really wanna inflate it?
In the sport of real football, you get ONE point for ONE goal. That's it! Not 3pts if you make a goal from the midfield or 2pts if you make it from the top of the box. ONE GOAL, ONE SHOT, THAT'S IT. Like Jimmy said, the buildup to the goal is hellava exciting thing to watch whether there's a goal or no goal. It's a beautiful game and if you don't like it or think it's boring as fuck then don't watch it. Baseball's on and football's about to start soon, so wait for that.
Now i'm not saying I don't like NFL football. I enjoy NFL a lot, but always thought their scoring system was a bunch of senseless shit.
