Who cares what the line is? The Ticos have to travel for 40 hours so any line is apparently good! OK, seriously, I think you're right about the travel already beeing factored in. A no bet for me if there ever was one!

Congrats on the under, but remember, most of the Brazilians (and many other South American teams) play in Europe so their travel isn't nearly as far as you are making it out to be. Costa Ricans, that isn't the case as few play in Europe to my knowledge. Don't forget where these guys for their clubs if you are playing up the travel element.

I wasn't playing up the travel element! I've steared completely clear of the international friendlies except for the Russia/Brazil under which was Jack's pick I happened to like.

That's the thing...I think Slim was playing up the travel element for the Costa Ricans and a few posters that I otherwise respect seems to be more degenerate than I expected. (I mean jumping on -0.5 when Slim is touting the pk line)

Quantumleap & SkinsRaj28, I especially can't believe two much respected posters like you would jump on Iran -0.5 when Slim said "perhaps at a pk if you could find it..." You know there's a big difference between pk and -0.5 in soccer, right??

Would you guys tail a college hoops pick, say Illinois State pk, if the line you could get was Illinois State -4? No, I didn't think so...at least not until this Iran game...

I believed the -0.5 would be a winner regardless of what the line was at earlier. I would also take Illinois State at -4 if I thought it would be a winner even though it was at pk at an earlier time. The earlier line is not always the accurate line.

Of course -0.5 can be good no matter what the earlier line was, I agree. But I don't think the line was ever pk - it was just that line Slime suggested before he had seen a line himself.

If you believed that Iran -0.5 was +EV then you must have known some things about both Iran and Costa Rica that wasn't included in Slim's original post. In that case, nice one and congrats!
