The ancients used the "goddidit" explanation for volcanoes, thunder and lightening, and every other natural phenomena they couldn't explain. To throw in the towel and say that god did it is intellectually lazy. Fortunately, people like Newton, Galileo and Copernicus didn't think like you.
Um, actually Newton, Galileo and Copernicus did indeed attribute all of the above to a Christian God.
Newton:
Though he is better known for his love of science, the Bible was another of Sir Isaac Newton's passions. He devoted more time to the study of Scripture than to science,
I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily [34]

Galileo:
"Galileo expressly said that the Bible cannot err, and saw his system as an alternate interpretation of the biblical texts."

Copernicus:
"Copernicus referred sometimes to God in his works, and did not see his system as in conflict with the Bible."

Interesting. So would you say that all protestant denominations are best following the teachings of Jesus? If not, which one(s) do you believe to be incorrect in their interpretations?
Do you think I don't know that? Do I really have to explain the point I was trying to make to you?
Also, just for fun, keep in mind that during Galileo and Copernicus' time, they really didn't have any choice but to proclaim their belief. The penalty for being branded a heretic was pretty high, was it not?
Which are the good ones and which are bad? Many denominations are a joke and do not preach the Gospel. I think true Christianity has always been underground and apart from organized religion. It's always been about a personal relationship between Christ and the believer.

No, not really.....I'm very ordinary. He has revealed himself to us in the Bible. Why do so many mock the cross? They are lost. 1 Cor 1:18 The message of the cross is foolishness to those that are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.I see. You profess to have a relationship with Jesus...has he spoken to you or somehow revealed himself to you apart from say...how he would to any ordinary person? Or does it only go as far as you believing, repenting, and asking him into your life? Also, do you believe the Bible is 100% true and accurate? Sorry for digging a little deeper - just wanting to pick your brain - I promise I am going somewhere with this.
better go get my tin foil hat for this thread
I agree with illini about the majority of the church world has gotten away from the cross.Sounds like illini found some good teaching.
You would be amazed how far away from the cross the majority of the church world has gotten.
There is only one way. That's the cross.
So simple.
Clever. I'll give you an A for effort. But life is not about beer and gambling. Of course most people here will laugh at anyone like me. As far as the Satanic stuff, I'll say that most Christians are largely in the dark about all of that stuff. And I can't say for sure I'm right about Bush and others. But outright Satanic symbols left and right, as in Lady Gaga, well that stuff isn't a laughing matter.:toast):missingte^!: Comedy gold reply.
Illini, I didnt know you were one of those guys....
DirectTV announcer voice announces:
"When you go to church too much you get brainwashed;
When you are brainwashed; everything becomes a conspiracy.
Conspiracies are Satans work and makes you angry.
When angry, you punch the Seikh 7/11 clerk in the face for wearing a turban hidding his devil horns.
You get arrested for a hate crime,
In jail you get beaten up for being a paranoid Jesus Freak by a gang of Baptists determined to beat the devil out of you (ironic huh)
Recovering in the infirmary and to pass the time you post on the Rx,:
"I think they both are Satanists and I think it's pretty obvious if you are looking for the truth about the world system and who is in control of it, like the Bible says. I don't think these kids have any bad motives, but somebody needs to tell them what it means. The real evil in this world is getting a laugh out of it." Illini
You become that guy on the Rx everyon laughs at. Don't be that guy on the Rx everyone laughs at, get get rid of cable. Packages start at $29.99
