I've used all 3 poker trackers (HEM, POkerOffice, Poker Tracker 3) but I like HEM ( Holdem Manager) the the most.

The site I play at, my HUD will show the stats of the players at the tables I open up. Within 10 minutes, my HUD will show who the fish are. The tables with fish, I will join the waiting list. The other tables I discard and open up new tables to find more fish. I also keep a list of names of bad players that I look through the tables to see if I can find them. I usually can get 5-6 good tables after 20 minutes. When a table goes bad I open up some more to find a replacement.

$75 for HEM, I can't remember but somewhere in that range. Some poker sites have deals where you can get HEM for free if you sign up and play X number of hands but you probably forfeit rakeback/deposit bonuses so not a good deal for a winning player.

There are some sites where HEM will automatically pop up a HUD on the tables you open up and start showing players stats while you wait to get in the game. It used to work at FullTilt but now the HUD only comes up when you are sitting in the game and getting cards dealt.

A fish is a bad player. You want to play against bad players. Just like any sport, if you pick an inferior opponent, you should win most of the time.

I have 15 stats configured on my HUD which are color coded in red/yellow/green. For example, a player who's VPIP is 50% or more will light up as green. Another stat is Fold to Continuation Bet will be green if over 50%. These stats will point out which players are bad. Once I start playing against someone who I think is a bad player, I will observe how they play and try to figure out how best to exploit them.

ive recently started playing again. been playing at pokerstars and fulltilt. starting to like fulltilt best. fast play, very cool hand replay thing, better software imo. pokerstars does have more players , MUCH better customer service and seems like they take less rake on games overall - from my experience in games/limits i play

its been fun to rediscover poker, i look at the game totally different now than a month ago. the proverbial light has come on. good luck wherever
