Kershaw got to a lot of 0-2 and 1-2 counts with the cubs only swinging once. His pitch count was so low because no walks, very few 3 ball counts, and no base runners/hits. It wasn't because they were attacking, they were absolutely not swinging first pitch.
I'll give you that, it wasn't attacking across the lineup...honestly I don't remember fully other than the pitch count that wasn't ticking up fast. Trying to erase from my memory. I do remember Contrares with his bat on his shoulder for three straight strikes.
