Check me out....drifting OFF TOPIC

Here's my personal favorite performance from Woodstock, with about twenty others tied for second place

Now we're talking. The Who, Ten Years After, Creedence Clearwater and Hendrix more than made up for these other bands not being there. And The Band too. One group that broke up and canceled out just before Woodstock that I would have loved to have seen back then was the Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart on vocals. That was a killer short-lived band. Led Zeppelin also cancelled out because of the money issue and getting a higher paying gig somewhere else that day..

Way too late for the Beatles. Though they were still nominally together, and they met up at the studio occasionally to cut a studio album, they had long since stopped performing together live as a concert act.

If you want to see a good concert film from that era, check out Monterey Pop. Janis Joplin has one of the absolute most impressive, powerful rock or blues live performances I’ve ever seen. I found the clip on Youtube also, but it’s such rotten video and audio quality that I hesitate to suggest watching it there, as you won’t think it’s anything special. But watch it in the movie itself if you can. It’s an amazing display of raw emotion from a vocalist.

Now we're talkin'. Before Rod Stewart went all tight pants and scarfs on us, he was a positively wicked blues singer back in the 60's. And it went well with Beck's guitar. Zeppelin had nothing on these guys. Their Truth record is still one of the best rock albums ever.

Wow, no shit? I don't think I've ever talked to anyone that's been there. Do you remember the highlight of the weekend for you?

Ten Years After was probably my favorite group at the time. Alvin Lee was fantastic.

You know what the killer is? A few months before Woodstock, I was sitting in a friends kitchen and I saw an ad for the festival. They were selling tickets. I was probably one of the few who actually bought tickets to the dam thing. When I got there I spent about 15 minutes wondering who do I give my ticket to? :ohno: I sure wish I had the originals today.
