I guess the mission was to stabilize the country. Help them establish a solid, democratic government. Train their armies to be respectable and some day self sufficient. Weaken the Taliban's hold in the region.
Now after 20 years, the US pulls out suddenly. And within weeks, the entire country looks to be completely overrun with the Taliban. The Taliban appears to be on the brink of controlling the entire country.
So what exactly was accomplished? Besides wasting tons of tax payer's money and losing American lives. For what?
