the movie deserves every award it will get. It was that good. I saw it Friday, and was more than impressed. I can't stop talking about it, and telling people to run out and see it. It was one of the better movies I have seen in quite some time. I watched Body of Lies later that night, which was a good movie, but b/c I saw Slumdog earlier in the day it didn't even come close to comparing. Excellent movie, and one of the best to come out in a long long time.

I just watched it last night. Good acting and story, and while a "feel-good" Boyle presented it in such a way that it didnt feel overly wrought or melodramatic. That's why I say give Boyle the Oscar for Directing and Frost/Nixon or The Reader for Best Picture. In the hands of a lesser directo, Slumdog might have fallen apart.

I watched it! I Loved it except for the last part where they Dance Like Queers but it was well well thought out. Definetly a Great Picture worthy.

Yeah very well thought out, poor kid with a good heart overcomes the challenges before him, gets the girl of his dreams, and the bad guys eat shit. Where have I seen this formula before? Oh yeah every fucking movie ever made.

Get out much?

movie wise no. i havent been to a theater in 5-6 years thank god.

i worked in one as a teenager. i was amazed at how low there standards were for the cleanliness of seats. lot of dirty secrets with the food to and if it was happenning where I worked, I'm positive it happens nearly everywhere else.

Add in the fact I'm not a fan of movies to begin with and that it's overpriced, I can wait 5-7 months until it comes out on Dish on Demand. Plus it's better seeing it where you don't have people talking and cellphones going off all the time.

idownloaded the wrestler on ps3 tonight, going to check that out tonight or tomorrow probably.

I was amazed at all the hype this movie got....and then it went on to win best picture!

Probably the worst acting I've ever seen in a movie.....I have yet to see a good Indian actor....every one of them sounds as if they are reading their lines from cue cards. But in all fairness, English actors would have a hard time acting well in an Indian flick.

And the kid falling into the shit hole was so cheesy that it should have disqualified the movie from any serious consideration. Talk about shoving it one's face about how bad conditions are there.....would have been nice to see some intelligent writing to get across the message. This movie seems to have been written by an 8th grader.

there's a reason... the formula just flat out works. If you're in the mood for a downer just turn on the news instead

ill just say this. dont ever get anything that isnt already pre-packaged. the candies are fine in the packages that cost 5 bucks to buy, which is a rip off. the theater operates mostly like a fast food restauraunt with the lack of cleanliness of the products that the food sits in.

i know for instance several times there were bugs in the giant hopper where the popcorn sits. equipment wasnt washed thoroughly, was a haven for rodents.

i did usher once, cleaning up theatres after thd movies ended and prepping them for the next show.

the prepping was basically sweeping all the garbage under the seats and laying a towel on the seats that had spilled drinks on them. you dont have the time for a thorough cleanse of a 300-500 seat theatre for a independence day premier with a new show every half hour.you got 15 minutes and your out.

so your basically sitting under a pile of garbage. after show after show of sweeping it under, you get mold and other bad smells that dont go away. they only do deep clean after the final show, and then a real deep clean once a month.

look under your seat the next time your in a theatre. i guarantee you see a pile of garbage if you go late night on a screen that's had a ton of showings. and this is industry standard, all theatres have to work this way. just dont have time to do deep cleans between shows.

It was an unusual movie in that none of the lead or supporting characters were even nominated for Academy Awards in the lead or supporting actor/actress categories. The first time I can ever recall this happening for a Best Picture movie. I would personally give the movie about an 8 out of 10. But critics in this country have so much influence over which movies make it and which don't, that somebody like a Roger Ebert giving it 4 stars out of 4, the big commercial push it got, and a very weak movie year got it over the top. The trouble is there aren't enough memorable movies made anymore to challenge movies like this.. That's another subject. But I really haven't seen a decent Best Picture winner since Million Dollar Baby about five years ago.

I like off beat films, indies, etc. Loved "Lost In Translation" a few years ago with Bill Murray. But can anyone tell me what was so great about "No Country for Old Men". Thought it was ok, but that movie takes the cake for overhype
