I have the best of XM so I know for a fact that not all channels have merged. They still channels that they charge extra for.

Without calling and bitching if you want all channels it's $199 a year. Why would someone get a select package for $165 a year? For $34 more you get the full package.

After a year of the package you call and bitch and they give you a reduced rate from the $199.

The other thing not that it's overly important but to some it is, you don't get Stern on the select package on the XM side of things.

The better deal is to go lifetime. If something happens to your receiver or you get a new one, you can transfer your package. There's a charge for it but if you are buying a new receiver it's worth it.

If you are looking for a good deal try this on for size... it's a better price than you'll pay through SIRI and you get the car dock as well....

I had similar experience and am paying $58 for 6 months for all access.

I got even a better Deal

Bought a New car last Sept and it came with a Free 3 Months, then I stopped it and out of the Blue they gave me another 3 Months. It ended and I wouldn't renew. So they started sending offers. First it was $14.99 a month, then when I wouldn't respond came the Best offer.. $29.94 for 6 months
of course there is a Music Royalty fee & Taxes, but that brings it to $33.68 for the 6 months

I was advised at CES that eventually Sirius radio would migrate to XM. XM is the better technology and has more ground repeaters. Maybe Sirius is having second thoughts as new cars are still equipped with Sirius when I had heard they would all be XM. It's stupid that the merger results in two different satellite systems. They could make a radio with dual operability but that is wasteful. The way this was going to work after the merger is that they would wait 8-10 years to eliminate Sirius as cars with the Sirius radio would eventually be off the road. For people with older cars who still had Sirius they would offer some kind of rebate so they could install an XM radio.
