I think what many are trying to say is that ANY resources focused on saving some cats and dogs is a waste if there is still ONE person that could use some help in this disaster. How would you feel if you are wandering around trying to find your lost wife and children and people are scrambling to save a box of puppies??

My brother flew out of Maine last night with a vet to go help animals in New Oreleans. I think the guy's a little off but to each his own.
It's a mad world we live in these days.

I went to MSNBC's website yesterday and saw a story about a family of three who were rescued from their attic just in the nick of time after watching their frail mother die a day or two earlier while stranded. The reason they decided to stay at home and try to ride out the storm? Because none of the shelters would let them bring their pets; absolutely tragic.
