I would be shocked if Spiro said anything other than "why would you play with those crooks?"

Moderators, I believe that you guys have some integrity and are probably caught in a bad situation, but look at your boss' response to this VERY legitimate inquiry and how he chooses to simply ignore the issue. Then think about whether or not he knew that there was never a bond in Panama to begin with. It's never too late to walk away from a job that compromises your ethics guys. (Don't become the next Scotty!)

Actually I am fairly certain there is some sort of bond posted in Panama. I doubt highly if it comes down to who gets what from the bond, that any players owed funds by BetPanAm will be in line. As far as walking away from the moderator job in protest as Sun Devil suggests, again I doubt that would help anyone owed funds by BetPanAm get paid. I for one will have to live with my own conscience, and take the risk I don't turn into the next Scotty (whatever that means).

dogball,

If my post sounded insensitive, maybe I didn't present what I knew to be FACTUAL in the best light...

The "insiders" that I speak with and some competitors of Bodog, namely WWTS and OLYMPIC, know how solvent Bodog is.

Do they know EXACTLY?

I doubt it...

But if you did decide to give Spiros a call and ask him whether he believed Bodog to be solvent or not, I am 100% certain that you would feel VERY confident, like I do, after taling to Spiros...

My latest information says they are double digit millions LIQUID....

And I would be willing to BET on that...

Psssttt..

The last time I put my money where my mouth is was with RIO and look at what turned out to be the truth...

"BoDog, takes pride in being federally licensed by the Costa Rican government, and confidently holds 100% of all deposits plus winnings for all players in a segregated reserve account with Europe's largest Private Bank in Zurich, Switzerland."

Since Swiss laws regarding bank account privacy are probably the strongest in the world, as far as I'm concerned this is absolutely impossible to confirm and is absolutely worthless. Personally, I don't believe it.

Nothing wrong with that. All opinions assist in decision making. Swiss bank accounts and panamanians arguing.

This is a rogue environment and all we will accomplish, which is good, will be to let the new bettors know this. The Risk is high mostly. I may have touted Panam More than SHRINK. Think I don't feel bad?

None of our money is guaranteed once we push the send tab.

Given the level of cockiness shown in this post, and the apparent willingness to not even come close to addressing the original question, one would almost think that the BetPanam fiasco and the trumpeting of the "phantom" $500K bond never actually happened.

How soon they forget.

Halifax, Scorpion and others,

Here is some SOLID ADVICE regarding ANY SPORTS BOOK...

Check out and ask other gamblers in this forum or any other forum what their experience has been like before sending them money, period...

The bottom line is that although we do our best to have a forum like this to share experiences, we are far from perfect...

It is ultimately YOUR DECISION to send money offshore, and no one else is accountable...

Like panam? No offense, but this advice doesn't work at all for new books.

Ok Jazz,

YEARS IN BUSINESS is another excellent point, too...

Wished we had been more cautious with Pan Am...

But even with Pan Am, I KNEW several of the PRINCIPLES there that had worked for other established and successful sports books...

There is nothing full proof, unfortunately and all one has to do is look no further back than ACES GOLD to remember that...

"Look both ways before c****ing the street"

This was another great piece of advice today that I heard for the very first time.

Be that as it may, I believe the topic of this thread is about attempting to verify:

1. That there is indeed an "escrow" account in Switzerland, and
2. That BoDog players would be the beneficiaries in the event of non-payment by BoDog.

You seem to be implying that #1 is true - and it may well be. I'm sure Cole has "deep pockets", much like the PanAm investors did (and still do). The problem, as you know, is that sometimes "short arms" accompany these "deep pockets".

We're also trying to ascertain whether #2 is true, and judging from your (lack of) response, I guess we can assume that it's NOT.

Here's some advice.

Never have more money deposited in ANY Sportsbook than you can afford to have stolen from you today. If you will suffer financially with this money being stolen, then get it out NOW.

SHRINK cant guarantee your money, nor can OSGA, nor can buzzsaw, nor can MW, nor can the Ausy Government.

It's a rogue environment.

The ultimate call on sending funds is made by each player. Let's try and get better and hope the panam situation is resolved soon. Let's try and afford this info to as many new players as we can.

Bodog seems very healthy. Why not concern ourselves with known rogue books 1st?

Shrink, General:

Thanks for the sage advice, but the bottom line is, we're not asking for advice ... we're asking whether or not there's a damn seg account in Switzerland that covers BoDog's players as it states on BoDog's website.

Halifax,

They say it on their website? Then it is your decision to believe or not. I'll ask for you. I can report if they say yes or no. Will that make you feel safer? I'll Be glad to.

General:

Anyone with eyes can read it on their website ... but Shrink specifically mentioned this "escrow" account in one of his posts pumping up BoDog.

Now, given the events that transpired over the past month with PanAm, some of the veteran posters have chimed in in this thread. What we want to know from the Shrink is:

1. Yes, this BoDog seg account actually exists, and it's earmarked for the players, or
2. No, I checked into it, and it doesn't really exist, or
3. Not sure - I'm just repeating what they told me, like I did with the $500K PanAm bond.
