If the baseball season was six weeks long or if championships were won in August St Louis would be in great shape

Shields, Kazmir, Garza, Price also dangerous.

A solid foursome, but in this reporter's opinion, Jeff Niemann may be a notch ahead of them all.

Colin Cowerd:
"Great, great stats sent to us today about the St Louis Cardinals"

I went ahead and emailed him after he started talking about the big 3 as well!

Wainwright (16-7) is 4-0 in his last five starts and has worked at least six innings in 26 consecutive starts, the best streak in the majors. Wainwright is 41-22 since moving to the rotation in 2007 after getting the last out in the 2006 World Series as the closer.
He, Carpenter and Pineiro are a combined 43-19.
“We’ve got a lot of talented pitcher in this league, and on this team even,” Wainwright said.

What about the Giants with Lincecum, Cain and Zito, who has picked up his game after the Allstar break?

Doug Davis???

Do you even pay attention to baseball? :ohno::ohno:
Yeah. Wondering about yourself now...

Guy has a 3.78 ERA this season. Webb is usually around 3.10. Haren is at 2.78 this season.

This is a team that deserves consideration.

You're Judging solely on ERA?

Thats all I need to know about you, thanks.. Guy has a WHIP at almost 1.50 and walks 4 batters a game at least.

If you'd go back and read what I posted, I never once said Davis was great. The fact of the matter is that Haren and Webb are amongst the best and a third guy coming in with a 3.78 ERA this season puts them in the discussion. Davis always puts a ton of guys on as well and works around it. His WHIP was 1.53 last year (1.43 this year) and his ERA was still good at 4.32. 4.25 ERA and 1.59 WHIP the year before.

The guy puts a lot of guys on. It's horrible for most guys but Davis pitches out of it and succeeds anyway.

MLB lecture over.

update....

hint...(you can't)
.
.
.
The Cardinals have won Pineiro's last 10 starts and 11 of the last 12. The right-hander is 7-0 with a 2.65 ERA in 10 outings since July 3, and walked none for the 13th start while striking out five.
13-9, 3.11 ERA (good for 11th in NL)

For the 12th straight start, Wainwright allowed two runs or less. That's the second best such streak by a Cardinals pitcher in the last 55 years. Adam Wainright became the National League's first 15-game winner. He also took the team lead, at least for a few days. The right-hander worked six or more innings for the 25th straight start, the most since Carpenter did it 28 straight times in 2005 (cy young winner that year).
15-7, 2.50 ERA (good for 4th in NL)

Chris Carpenter is 9-0 in his last 10 starts. His nine-game win streak is the longest in the major leagues this season. He takes the ball tomorrow v. the Astros. Carpenter allowed just one runner to reach second base and lowered his major league-best ERA to 2.16. In his last 10 starts, Carpenter is 9-0 with a 1.92 ERA.
14-3, 2.16 ERA (BEST in MLB)

The Cardinals are 27-3 since July 3 in games started by their top three starters -- Wainwright, Carpenter and Joel Pineiro

I won't get started on their bullpen.

After his 1 hit shut out of the brewers today, Carpenter lowered his MLB leading ERA to 2.16 and won his 11th consecutive decision. He is now 16-3.
..
Wainright improved to 17-7 in his last start. Leads the majors in wins. His six inning streak came to an end, however. ERA at 2.68
..
Pineiro is 1-0 in 2 starts since the last post. ERA of 3.28. More impressive, he has only walked 20 batters on the season covering 184 innings. 14-9 record. Last loss was on Jun 28. In his 9 losses, he received 21 runs of support.

33-5 in games by these 3 since July 1st.
