It happened to one of my players once a couple years back. I added a $50 Bonus Play to his account. It might depend who was in at the time. Bad move on Bookmakers part.
Exactly......but why would you expect anything if you are waiting to tell them....the original poster shows a character defect.....
Besides, the mistake by the book will be figured out eventually by the book....he should have called right away...
Just an observation...
In a thread below, Phil Ivey was accused by a casino of taking advantage of a defect in the card pattern while playing baccarat and profiting $9.6 million. Reading the responses in that thread, it seemed the general consensus was Ivey did nothing wrong and it was the casino's fault for not noticing the error. In other words, it seemed posters felt Ivey was justified in taking advantage of the casino.
Now, in this thread, the book made a grading mistake and the general consensus is that it would be immoral, dishonest and a "character defect" for the poster to take advantage of the grading error by not notifying the book.
Im not saying these are 100% analogous but am surprised how the board came to two different outcomes on two similar scenarios.
This happened to me once.
I got the yankees a few years ago with their ace on the mound at something like +250 the night before the game. The next day the line was at yankees -180. I decided to not tell the book because i felt like it was my job as a gambler to find flaws like this. However, the book discovered the error after the Yankees won and graded my play as no action. So, by not being honest with them I lost the play completely when I at least would have hit it at -180 had I told them. Something to think about.
It really isn't about the book, it is about your own character - some people just have that bone in their body to be honest for them and not for others. Although, You know what it did for Ned Stark lol, but people do respect a man with honor.
Sooner or later someone who bet the other side is going to notice they have a loser and call it in. Since chances are they are going to figure it out anyway it's better to tell them before you end up looking like a scumbag with nothing to gain.
