Why not? It would provide additional revenue and in all honesty I dont think it would multiply the problem or anything. I'm pretty sure whores are going to be whores and guys are going to go to whores no matter what..people dont avoid whores cuz its illegal they avoid them cuz they are pertri dishes of disease. And I don't care how much the feds get involved to make it safer for all parties people ain't gonna show up and more then they already do

I am not too familiar with the subject but what are the statistics in the countries or state (NV) that currently has legalized prostitution.

Someone a whole lot smarter than me will probably have to pour over that data and come up with some theories.

I'm against it as long as someone other than the woman profits. If it was a grown adult looking to make money and have sex that's their business. But if pimps or services are involved, it leaves too much room for manipulation of disadvantaged girls. Which is incredibly hard to manage.

There is nothing morally wrong about two consenting adults fulfilling a normal and natural human need.

the high end of the industry might not need a 3rd party but the lower end would for sure. The lower end of the business might continue to be black market because I can't imagine any of these types having the where with all to "go pro" and I think there would still be a market for the drug addicted cheap trainwrecks.

The idea that prostitution is a victimless crime is a myth.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/12/opinion/12farley.html?_r=0

http://crime.about.com/od/prostitution/a/prostitution.htm

Prostitutes Are Biggest Victims

To believe prostitution has no victims, one must ignore these statistics published in Farley's Fact Sheet:
  • 78 percent of 55 women who sought help from the Council for Prostitution Alternatives in 1991 reported being raped an average of 16 times a year by pimps, and were raped 33 times a year by johns.
  • 62 percent reported having been raped in prostitution.
  • 73 percent reported having experienced physical assault in prostitution.
  • 72 percent were currently or formerly homeless.
  • 92 percent stated that they wanted to escape prostitution immediately.
  • 83 percent of prostitutes are victims of assault with a weapon.
  • 75 percent of women in escort prostitution had attempted suicide.
  • 67 percent meet diagnostic criteria for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Prevalence of Incest

In short, the victims of prostitution are mostly the prostitutes themselves. It just may be that they no longer have the ability left to "consent" to be a willing participant in their so-called victimless crime. Estimates of the prevalence of incest among prostitutes range from 65 percent to 90 percent. The Council for Prostitution Alternatives, Portland, Oregon Annual Report in 1991 found that: 85 percent of their prostitute clients reported history of sexual abuse in childhood while 70 percent reported incest.

Zit my friend, I think a lot of those issues are mitigated by legalization

I know what thing with relative certainty, illegal prostitution is not going away without legal prostitution

prostitution laws are as effective as prohibition was, as in not very effective

there is one way to make illegal prostitution subside, crazy harsh consequences, something our society won't tolerate FWIW

I think legalization and regulation could be a reasonable solution...

[h=1]When Rhode Island accidentally legalized prostitution, rape decreased sharply[/h]
For decades, few people noticed that legislators in Providence had deleted crucial language from Rhode Island state law in 1980. It wasn't until a 2003 court case that police, to their chagrin, discovered they couldn't prevent prostitutes and their customers from engaging in commercial exchange.

For the next six years until legislators corrected their error, the oldest profession was not a crime in Rhode Island -- and public health and public safety substantially improved as a result, according to a new working paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research. The statewide incidence of gonorrhea among women declined by 39 percent, and the number of rapes reported to police in the state declined by 31 percent, according to the paper.

Of course it should be legal...... we are still suffering from a bullshit backwards puritan mentality about that shit. If a girl is of age she ought to be able engage in commerce. If she chooses to have a "manager" that is her right as well. If she is being manipulated or taken advantage ofby someone with more smarts or power than herself...... well then welcome to the fucking club...... as that is most people's lot in life.

Morally its wrong.........if it becomes legal & then women need to be tested for diseases & have papers.

We had 5 asain parlors in my town for several years & they were raided twice within a 6 month period, the 2nd time closing them for good & they were all run by the supposed Korean mob.

A township officer that I know was in on the raid & I asked him why do the cops care about women trying yo make a living as prostitutes in a parlor?

He said, we don't care, we would let them operate but we get a lot of complaints from wives calling the police station.

There were 2 within a mile of my restaurant in the suburbs, in fact, one was next to a McDonalds, lol! The other one was in a strip mall.

Bottom line, these women provide a much wanting/needed service for a lot of men.

Again, the US govrt has their heads up their a*s & if they would like dome serious tax money, legalize sports betting/poker online, prostitution & drugs & the criminal element will be hurting big time!

If all of these are legalized, will it stop people from not following the rules & doing these illegally? Probably not but it will put one big hurt in the criminals wallets.

Eight Counties in Nevada provide legal brothel houses of prostitution. The following Nevada Counties offer legal prostitution: Carson City, Elko County, Humboldt County, Lander County, Mineral County, Nye County, Washoe County and White Pine County. As a side-note brothels and prostitution are illegal through-out Clark County including: Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mesquite and North Las Vegas. The closest legal brothel to Las Vegas is called Sheri's Ranch Brothel.

Much better talent in Clark County (where it's Illegal) but very easy to find
