regarding my animal abuse comment I am not advocating it - I am just asking what would prompt you to call the police over animal abuse?

I toss my cat out the door all the time when he pukes and craps on stuff he shouldnt - and if a dog comes near my kids I must again confess that I might be quick with the foot to "displace" the animal - but would someone call the police on me for this? I must now wonder...

I would call the police if someone were torchuring an animal for fun

to me that is animal abuse.

But the reason I ask is because I honestly would look the other way if someone were to discipline their dog harshly.

Am I a bad person ?

Jaypaw,

I assume your a single parent. Otherwise day care is wrong.

I guess you can call me a rat, I am constantly calling 911 on freeway drivers that appear drunk, or kids going too fast. I also let people know that they should not smoke near their childern if they really love them.

We had a case here locally where a guy actually poured gasoline and lit his dog on fire on purpose (probably a crackhead too)....many witnesses, it was all over the news...people beat the hell out of the guy before the police even got there to arrest him....

what are they smoking? crack or weed? big difference!!

I understand weed is still illegal, however no more dangerous (In fact way less Dangerous) than booze.

If it is crack, call the cops.

Discipling an animal is not abusing it, unless you're a sadistic sob trying to beat the thing to death. I'm not a bleeding heart liberal PETA member, I assure you.

SS- you think its okay to smoke pot in front of a one year old baby? I mean right in front , like the kid is sitting on the parents lap? I do not think so....

Rail - um no why dont you try to reserve judgement till you know the facts...

I am not a single parent.

My company was in a transition period and my wife worked part time as a precautionary measure. She is home now with the kids - thanks for being concerned.

I agree about smoking around children to a degree but I think that kids can deal with the occaisional discrete smoking of a cigar or a pipe (outside of course...) as compared to growing up with ash trays floating around the house and a parent or parents who need to smoke packs upon packs a day...

Journey, I love you but that has got to be one of the stupidest statments I have ever heard...

WHAT THE F UCK DO YOU THINK YOUR DAUGHTER IS GONNA DO IF SHE LIVES BUT HER OLD MAN DIES IN A WRECK?

Not speaking out of my ass either...I went face first through my windshield in 1995, would have been unhurt had I been wearing my belt

Dear Cops,

There is a little kid that lives next door to me. His parents smoke crack and then they put him in the front seat of the car with no seatbelt and drive around high.

I know all of this because I am a "stay at home" gambler and watch baseball and place bets on the Internet all day. The only time I am away from the house is when I go to western union to pick up money wires from latin america.

Can you help?

Signed,

Concerned Citizen

ABSOLUTELY NOT,

But you should not abuse alcohool or smoke cigarettes in Front of a 1 Year old KID either but many do.

I am simply saying WEED is WAY different than CRACK. That is all. If it was my neighbour & it was weed I woudnt call the cops but would if it was crack.

KIDS SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO ANY OF IT...

Journey that is NOT ok - poking smot infront or even if you are gonna be around kids...

The gas thing is aweful

I guess I was niaeve (sp?) about it

I figure if you are gonna do shit like that then why get a dog - but to legitimately discipline a dog even on the hard side I would say is ok unless it was to the point where it was seriously offensive to the viewing public.

Yes , I think any smoke in front of kids is bad..hell I don't want to breathe it either...I'm still scorned from that seatbelt point you made...very valid point SS...what I meant was I do at times not use a seatbelt...

BTW- you ever watch an old movie and you see a kid huddled up near the driver talking to him from the back seat...times have really changed.

Jay,

Some dogs need a little more than others..I've got a couple of hard headed pitbulls and they don't understand "now be a good boy and stop chewing on the cat"... they do understand some other things though that PETA might not approve of. But they're loved, fed, watered, sheltered and taken to the vet. My oldest had surgery for cancer yesterday and that was a quick $500.... and she probably won't live out the month. But I owe her the chance to do so...

good point about the seatbelt Ssavant - only the law isnt across the board that adults have to have seat belts is it?

Im not exactly sure where you are coming from but I what I would like to know is why we are all alive now and we didnt grow up strapped to the back seat?

Sure peoples lives will be saved but what is the net gain? Surely there will be many many people not remembering to drive carefully since their kids areny in back rolling around?

Right?

Im just not sure its worth it in the end - people are less willing to take responsibility with the more safety precautions that the law puts in place and the more they get used to those precautions the more society will be willing to accept things that are more and more intrusive...

In Canada it is the law across the board (However I am not sure if an adult has to wear if they are in the back seat...not sure)

MAX, sorry bout your dog

Although I disagree that hitting a dog should be part of any training program despite the breed.
