I bet the "sharp" numbers yesterday and went 1-5. Lost my ass! The books probably cleaned up yesterday.

I think you're right, especially after knocking down all the D'Backs and Yankees series and futures.

The A & M game got away from a win in the 4th. That hurt me.

Squares have a losing week and think its the end of the world.
(just see all the posts that pop up proclaiming bad luck)
Sharps know that even a losing year means nothing.

Joey C. is right, sportbook middle management is where a lot of would-be sharp guys end up. The problem is a lot of them think they are still sharp. I won´t mention names.

gmon,

you're wrong when you say sharpies smile at the end of the day. You mean at the end of the year, not day. There's no rule that says that a sharpie cannot have 6 straight days of going 1-10. A sharpie can have 13 straight weeks of losing 100 dimes, then they will have 3 straight weeks winning back the 700 dimes they lost in 3 weeks, plus interest. It's a sick business. Whethere you're a sharpie or not, you will have a lot of sleepless nights. But at the end, the money always ends up in the sharpies hands, as long as they don't chase and stay within their means.

Your only as good as the people you are surrounded by AND KNOW IT.if you have a good opinion and you are going bad you will either step back and not play, cut your bets ,or use the other people's plays which SURROUND you.YOU must always try and get the best number (chasing a half point is fine if your chasing a sharp number)unfortunately most continue to chase after that half. If the half point your chasing is off a KEY number,DON,T.The more numbers you see makes you sharper ,if you can see through the LINES.If by game time you don,t have the best of the number(your doing something wrong).Yes,when the number runs against you(because the sharp guy played the right number or half the worst)and ALL of the SQUARES drove the number up up up up.There will be someone to drive it down down down(MR. sharp will have both numbers and will know which 1 to sit with more often)THERE ARE A FEW PEOPLE HERE WHICH DO HAVE A GOOD TRACK RECORD.find them and follow them--best chance for a SQUARE.

Simple answer to this question. Squares actually believe that touts really do have "inside sources" and "game deciding information"!

Sharps:

1) Are Emotionless
2) Do not bet just to make the games more fun to watch.
3) Take notes on every game.
4) Usually pick one or two sports to be an expert at. It is impossible to be a know=it-all about football, hockey, NBA, college sports, etc...let alone a handicapper in these sports!
5) Always think ahead. Think about matchups two weekends from now. Will watch certain games to help aid future matchup decisions.
6) Bet on only a few, well research games per week.
7) Take advantage of early odds before they have a chance to change.
8) Take advantage of the best odds available.
9) Are not addicted to gambling. They bet because they win and do it for a living.
10) Are very rare.

one of the ways to seperate "sharps" from "squares" .......is when they lose ........squares double up sharps dont......

also when squares are up they tend to bet MORE GAMES, sharps when up, bet MORE MONEY same amount of games..........big difference.

Squares peek at the online scoreboards every five minutes to see how they're doing. Sharps pick up the paper the next day and fill in the results.

Sharp is a person who has the skills necessary to be in the black when all is said and done.

Sharps get their limits reduced.

Squares get their limits raised.

To find out what you are (if you haven't had your limits reduced) simply request for an increase in your limits and see if your request is granted.
