If anyone has any information concerning Spiller's status please share it, thank you

CLEMSON - With TCU coming to town, it's a strange coincidence that its most recognizable football alum represents the greatest concern for Clemson senior running back C.J. Spiller.
Spiller said Tuesday that his lingering discomfort is essentially turf toe - an injury whose primary cure is prolonged rest, which Spiller's feet won't figure to get until season's end.
To that end, turf toe has an impact on the cutting ability of a running back. The injury has gradually curtailed the effectiveness last season of high-profile NFL backs Darren McFadden and former Horned Frogs star LaDainian Tomlinson.
Spiller said reporters can quit wasting their breath asking if the toe will keep him out of games - he's playing - but he admitted his challenge will be preventing the injury from becoming a mental hurdle that gives him pause before every move.
"It hurts all over," Spiller said. "But it's something I'm going to have to play through as long as I can.
"The good thing is it feels a whole lot better today than it did Saturday, and it's a big difference. But even the weather can make it hurt."
Germ factory
No new cases of the flu were officially reported within Clemson's football team Tuesday, and starting defensive tackle Jarvis Jenkins was cleared to attend practice as a spectator.
On Monday, six players were sidelined because of the flu, including starting center Mason Cloy. One of those six - reserve lineman Kenneth Page - returned Tuesday.
While team doctors are not testing to determine if it is swine flu because the treatment would be the same regardless, senior tight end Michael Palmer a multitude of players have come down with either the flu or a cold.
"It seems like everybody's fighting a little something right now," Palmer said. "They're giving out medicine like it's candy."
Coach Dabo Swinney said the team has tried to be vigilant with prevention by asking players to take vitamins, use plenty of hand sanitizer and avoid using others' cell phones.
Hairston update
Junior left tackle Chris Hairston (sprained MCL) did not practice Tuesday, and while Hairston said today is the target date for deciding his availability for Saturday's game, Swinney suggested that Hairston is one few player who would not need to practice in order to be allowed to play.
"He'll mentally practice, and the good thing about Chris. He's as smart a player as we've got," Swinney said. "He can take it from the film room and go play Saturday."

Dave: I'll be using this strategy the rest of the way. To answer your question everyone is gonna have to wait till Friday. What will life be without something to look forward to?

Indy: You and me both my friend, you and me both haha

bearmz: Thanks a bundle my friend. I found this the other day about Hairston:

If Hairston can’t go, there will be opportunity aplenty. Offensive tackles coach Danny Pearman said that senior Cory Lambert, who gave up three sacks to talented Georgia Tech defensive end Derrick Morgan, likely would start at left tackle, and sophomore Landon Walker would start at right tackle. Converted guard David Smith would back up Walker, while senior Jamarcus Grant, who missed Saturday with the flu, would go behind Lambert.
Hairston was injured on a fourth-and-one play midway through the third quarter; his knee was “rolled up on,” and the sprain happened “just the way I got caught in the pile, with guys rolling around.”

He said he “didn’t have any strength” on the leg during the game and could only “walk around real gingerly.”

Now, he said, the knee has “a lot of soreness,” although he is doing plenty of physical therapy with ice and electric stimulation in hopes of quicker healing.

“Right now, it’s day to day, I’ll get as much treatment as I can and see what I can do on it,” he said. “Today (Monday) I’m not practicing and I’ll see how much strength I have in it. I’ll get treatment and really take it day to day.”

To play this week, Hairston likely must practice by Wednesday. He says being able to move side-to-side and dig his cleats into the turf will be crucial.

“If I can get out there, be productive out there, I really want to get a day of practice in,” he said. “I don’t want to just go out there and play Saturday. It’s really a matter of if I can get back in time to get out there, kick around, move around a lot, get ready for the game.”

And get ready for Hughes, who had 15 sacks a year ago as a consensus All-America. He piled up three Saturday night in a 56-21 win over FCS foe Texas State.

I'll check tonight and tomorrow for any word on Hairston's availability.

Voice, not meaning to intrude, but here's a little update on Clemson.

Injury update. Junior tackle Chris Hairston (sprained MCL) participated in limited individual drill work Wednesday and has a chance to play Saturday against No. 15 TCU, coach Dabo Swinney said.
"I think it's something that will just keep getting better," Swinney said. "I don't anticipate any decision until gametime, literally. We're going to watch him in warm-ups and if he can go, he'll go. If not, we'll hold him.
It has been a long two weeks for senior Cory Lambert, demoted from starting right tackle midway through the Georgia Tech game because of his struggles against speed-rusher Derrick Morgan. Lambert has been working as the first-string left tackle this week amid Hairston's absence.
Swinney also said senior running back C.J. Spiller (turf toe) "practiced well."
How important is RB Spiller?
The Tigers are one of two FCS teams (along with Stanford) to have three special teams touchdowns. The Tigers' offense has scored five touchdowns.
Spiller (second) and senior receiver Jacoby Ford (11th), both accomplished track sprinters, are among the nation's punt-return leaders, with Spiller fifth in kickoff returns as well.
Through three games, the Tigers’ offense has made nine trips inside an opponent’s 20-yard line. Eight have resulted in scores, but seven have been field goals, with only one touchdown. That’s the fewest red-zone scores in the ACC, behind three other squads with three apiece. Against Boston College, Clemson didn’t score an offensive touchdown, with its only score coming on C.J. Spiller’s 77-yard punt return. Saturday, Clemson ran 12 plays in the BC red zone. Nine of them — on three straight second-quarter drives — yielded five total yards and three field goals.

Status quo. Swinney said he remains committed to using backup quarterback Willy Korn in every game as a means to build experience at that position.

Under coach Gary Patterson, the Horned Frogs are 53-1 when allowing 17 points orfewer. The only loss was last year's 13-10 defeat at Utah.
In the past five years, TCU is 37-1 when it has as many turnovers or fewer than its opponent. It has gone 6-9 when losing the turnover battle.
An eerie note on the game:
Clemson's 1959 ACC championship team will be honored at halftime Saturday as part of its 50-year reunion. Interestingly, that squad beat No. 7 TCU 23-7 in the Bluebonnet Bowl.
FLU UPDATE: There were no new cases of influenza.
Six players missed practice Monday, five Tuesday. A few others battled symptoms.
“I think we’ll get through it,” said Coach Dabo Swinney. “It’s been a couple of days and guys are bouncing back. Most of them got sick over the weekend.
9/22
Starting center Mason Cloy and reserves Jamarcus Grant, Kasey Nobles and Phillip Price watched with masks on. Defensive tackle Jarvis Jenkins, who spent Monday in bed with the flu, is out of bed and recovering, according to sports information director Tim Bourret.

Pags, thanks for the prop...just trying to help.

I know a few things my friend which I can't get into here, in short the truth is the direction of this country is taking is one shouldn't wait around and see what happens. If you have the financial means, have nothing pressing tying you here and could come up with a good plan then I suggest moving across the pond or down this hemisphere. If I can get college football coverage over there then I might just continue doing this little hobby. Though I feel that considering my plan its going to be hard press. Hope to finish with a bang, take care of yourself bud

In short it seems Spiller is never going to be 100% for the entire season as its the case with most toe injuries. Thanks Bearmz for all the info bud.

Now unto Hairston status:

CLEMSON -- Tigers tackle Chris Hairston walked gingerly from the practice fields Wednesday evening, just days removed from suffering a MCL sprain against Boston College.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Hairston's status for Saturday's game against No. 15 TCU will be a game-time decision.

Hairston's type of knee injury usually sidelines players for several weeks, though the junior is hoping to play against the Horned Frogs and defensive end Jerry Hughes, who might be the best pass rusher in the college game.

"He did a little bit better today," Swinney said of Hairston. "We didn't put him in any practice stuff. He did some (drills) and things like that. He is a little further along today. I think it is just something that is going to keep getting better.

"I don't anticipate any kind of decision until game time, literally. We'll watch him in warmups, and if he can go, go. If not, you hold him."

If Hairston can go, it brings into question whether he would line up at right or left tackle.

After Georgia Tech's Derrick Morgan recorded three sacks in the first half during Week 2 lining up opposite right tackle Cory Lambert, the Tigers moved Hairston to the right side in the second half.

Walker said Tuesday he had only been taking reps at right tackle.

Hughes predominantly lines up opposite right tackle. He had a nation-best 15 sacks last season and has 4 1/2 sacks through two games this season.

"Chris can play either side," Swinney said. "All options are on the table. I just hope he is able to play."

Spiller practices

After sitting out practice Monday and Tuesday, Clemson running back C.J. Spiller returned to action Wednesday. Swinney said he practiced well. Spiller also sat out practice Monday and Tuesday last week.

Spiller is dealing with what he describes as a turf toe injury, sustained in the opener against Middle Tennessee. He aggravated the injury and sat out most of the second half against Boston College.

Swinney said he has not considered resting Hairston or Spiller against the non-conference Horned Frogs.

If this is still the case tomorrow night I'll flush my matchbook plays.

pags: yeah well catch me in one of my gloom and doom moods and you'll feel different :drink:

jbragg: Ole Miss simply lost too much meat from last year, Wallace, Oher, Peria Jerry, etc. Mike Wallace especially makes the team to dependent on McCluster. Defensively they're secondary is still vulnerable and coming in we had no Peria and a "80%" Greg Hardy. As for the rest of my card nothing is set in stone, stay tuned tonight :toast:
