I'll take the team that was 14-1 with their QB playing. 14-1 with pretty much no sweat and not many close games.

If you are afraid because of the one loss, maybe you will feel better knowing in that game:

- turnovers were the main problem (and they were flukes, not poor plays)
- got short end of the stick on officiating (including weird play with late hit on kneeling QB that cost them a shot at ball)
- eagles played terrible and skins played great and eagles still should have won except for the above

SF is really really good, but I think Eagles win fairly easily unless turnovers, fluke plays, etc, occur

Not a lock, but all things being equal Eagles win.

Did you expect them to blow out every team on the road? Did they win those games even though they "struggled"?

Cin barely won at home against Baltimore then comes back and blows out Buffalo on the road. Look for reasons to take a team instead of reasons not to.
My initial point was that line could be overreaction to Divisional Round results: Philly blowing out Giants, and Niners winning uglier game against the Cowboys

A lot changes week to week, and match-ups dictate a lot. IMO this is a favorable match-up for the Niners

I'm not conceding a qb edge for the Eagles..
Purdy is still too much of an unknown to truly evaluate them, but I think lack of experience alone gives Hurts an advantage. I'm not as high on Hurts as most though

Eagles very difficult team to stop on offense -hurts is like no other can pass as good as say Allen but a better runner and very quick -thing is the ohilly Dee how good are they -with hurts out mediocre as he controlled the ball n they were rested and didn’t have to do so much - they will have thier hands full with sf offense - interesting matchup. Sf better Dee bend don’t break

No respect ... how can you say NYG shouldn't have been there? If you put another team in their place you'd just point to that team having a worse record. The next best team after NYG was Tampa at 8-9 .... Should they have been there? The Eagles could have named the score against the Giants so I don't see where discrediting the opponent means much here.

As for SF they beat Dallas by just 7 (At SF) and Dallas had the chance to win at the end. Dallas beat Tampa (in your words another team that shouldn't be there) by only 20. Eagles beat Dallas with Hurts by 9 and it was a late Dallas TD that made it that close. Then the Eagles almost beat Dallas with their backup QB. In addition SF only won 4 games against teams with a winning record with 2 being Seattle 9-8 and 1 being Mia also 9-8 not the toughest of winning teams. They also lost to Chicago (yes Chicago), Denver and Atlanta how does all that add up to better team?
Meanwhile the Eagles destroyed NYG and will now be at home. They finished the season 14-3 with two losses coming without QB who is back now
Look at the team rankings
Offense: Eagles #3 - SF #5
Defense Eagles #2 - SF #1 .... And that's with SF playing a softer schedule
The Eagles may lose but I don't see them being the inferior team.
Nice analysis Johnny. Not enough is made about how weak the Niners schedule was. They got blown out by Kansas City at home and beat the Chargers 22-16 at home. The rest of their schedule was junk.

Hurts hasn't had to deal with a pressure game all year.. Giants game was kinda over quick... Purdy came thru with flying colors in a pressure packed game against a really good defense... Coming in mid season off the bench and responding like he has, IDK, I might take Purdy if it comes down to it, in a tight 4th qtr game.

Allen was a much slower runner who use shear power like a fullback -hurts right now imho is better than a healthy mahomes -but again there Dee is suspect for sure if niners can negate some of hurts runs then sf can win

Eagles had a stretch when Jordan Davis the big Nose tackle missed some games and teams were able to run the ball on the eagles. When he plays they are pretty stout against the run.The eagles have the best O line in Football and manhandled a pretty good NYG front four.Eagles corners with Slay and Bradbury are both outstanding and will give Purdy much tighter windows. The way the eagles played down the stretch, losing to the saints and the cowboys and Hurts being hurt and missing some playing time.I think that stretch has taken pressure off them and everyone is saying how great the 49ers are.Even though philly is at home and small favorite.Seems like there was going to be more pressure on the eagles when they did not get challenged for first 8 or 9 games, people were asking will they go undefeated, then thay had some injuries, lost a few games, looked like they were coasting the last month biding their time till the playoffs.Watching them against a well coached overacheiving NYG team they looked like they flipped the switch and are ready for playoff Football.NYG down 28-0 and you had NO belief they could make a few plays and get back in the game. They were being dominated. It seems the eagles arrived a year early after squeaking into the playoffs last year. The 49ers lost in the NFC championship game, last year it feels to me the pressure is more on them and more was expected of them this year, at least thats what I thought, i did not think eagles would
be in the championship game. They have been money all season in 3rd and 4th and short, which is hugh in NFL games in moving sticks and scoring points.I think the bye week helped them get even more healthy and NYG really did not seem to take much out of them. O Tackle Johnson you can see is playing hurt out there, but even hurt he was beasting on the Giants front.Sirrani has gone 10-3 ATS as a home favorite, showing in his short career he does not take teams lightly at home as a favorite. And NFC championship it shouldn t be hard getting up for that.49ers on 12 game win streak and were played about evenly with Dallas, and dallas just beat themselves.I see the 49er run ending here.
Another solid analysis.

Hurts has the best offensive line in the game by far. He has all day to throw whenever he drops back. Looks like a college game a lot of the time when they play

That's not to take anything away from him, he's a top 10 guy now and has improved a lot.

But better than Mahomes? Come on lol

Niners schedule was soft, but so was Eagles.

Makes basically no difference.

Eagles offensive line hasn't faced a defensive front like the Niners that can get after you + stop the run. Cowboys nowhere near as good against the run as the Niners . That'll be the difference I think

Under seems like a good play too

For perspective, odds at Bovada to win SB

Bengals +260
Chiefs +260
Eagles +260
49ers +300

Purdy might have a problem against a 75 sack team on the road.

I fully agree that Purdy came through with flying colors. Shanahan kept him in a damned straight jacket until they needed first downs late. When he finally gave Purdy the green light the kid was aces.

Will be interesting to see if they can force a turnover from it

Eagles would be foolish to be over aggressive . Need to load box and sell out the run

Here's a little schedule comparison ... just look at their divisions

SF : Rams
....... Arizona
....... Seattle
Only Seattle was a winner but they had the luxury of 4 easy games against Ariz & Rams

Eagles: Dallas
............. NYG
............. Wash
Only Wash didn't make playoffs and they were in it until wk 16 ... 6 games no easy wins there

SF played 7 games against the worst 8 teams in the league ... Chi, Ariz, Ariz, Rams, Rams, Atl & LV and they lost to Chi & Atl
Eagles played 4 against the worst 8 .... Hou, Ind, Chi & Ariz and they lost none.

Again I'll say this game is no lock the best team doesn't always win so we'll see but to give SF the nod of superiority is really a reach when you look at the stats.
As I said No Respect .... And Avocado you being all Cinn should understand what no respect feels like.

Some good points but I would still say Niners are better

It’s not very logical to weigh first and half season equally. Not sure if that’s exactly what you’re doing but it appears so if you are bringing up basically meaningless early season results. Weird shit happens at the beginning of the season (Bengals lost to Steelers in Week 1 at home for example). Niners are a completely different team from when they lost early on. OLine improved a lot and got healthy.

Eagles haven’t floundered obviously but they haven’t looked as good as they were early on. Especially on defense

I would agree about difficulty of division but don’t think the gap is as dramatic as you’d think since teams like Giants aren’t playoff teams in normal years.

Looks like this has to be settled on the field ... I hope I'm right but that guarantees nothing.
Just for gen knowledge I played futures on the SB winner and I have:
Cinn +900
Eag +550

I made those bets Jan 12 so I have odds from then)
Good Luck this weekend ... just don't use it to beat my Eagles
