L.A. (-103) @ San Diego (-107); Total set at 6.5
Yesterdays was a tough loss on this game given that I suggested playing over the 5.5 total these two teams had and it never had a shot. A 2-1 victory for San Diego continued their winning ways and is it alright to say the “Padres are rolling once again.” I don’t think they are rolling yet, but after losing so many games in a row, a 2 game winning streak must feel great for the San Diego players and their fans. Thankfully for them the Dodgers have all but packed it in for this season and are limping on a crutch to the finish line. The Dodgers are 2-8 SU in their last 10 games and 0-4 in their last four road games.
In fact, both of these teams now have a 2-8 SU record in their last 10 games respectively, its just that San Diego has risen to that mark, while the Dodgers have slid. The problem for both teams lately is that they can’t hit. L.A has the better average of the two teams in the last 10 games with a .232 mark which is brutal. The Dodgers are also batting .217 against lefties in that span and are up against one tonight from San Diego.
With the teams not being able to produce offensively and playing in a pitcher-friendly ball park, I have to once again look at the total in this game. After last night’s game, these two teams are now 1-7 O/U this year in games played in San Diego and other than a 3 game series back in May the number has always been 6.5 or lower. I played it aggressively yesterday by going against that trend, and hopefully I have learned from my mistakes.
Tonight, I believe this game goes under that number because this trend is just too strong and neither team can hit the baseball. For one of the teams to have the better batting average of the two at .232, you know that these guys are going into the box with no confidence and nothing but a hope and a prayer. Even though San Diego is putting a young pitcher on the mound today, the Dodgers are playing with zero passion and just want to get to the off-season and the nice luxurious lifestyle a L.A millionaire can live when not working.
Stick with the pattern and take under 6.5 runs.
