Gold Sheet
PHILADELPHIA 97 - New York 96—Philly has some issues heading into
this game, as super-sub G Lou Williams (14 ppg) is out with a hamstring injury
and fellow bench contributor F Thaddeus Young (13 ppg, 5.4 rpg) has been
playing through a groin injury. Those two combined for 25 ppg against New York
this season. Additionally, the Sixers are coming off a game at Boston last night,
and face a Knick side that’s just a half-game behind Philly for the 6th seed in the
East. New York has given Philly trouble the last few seasons, logging a 5-1
spread mark in last 6 against the Sixers. That being said, this will be the first
time that Philly has seen Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups playing
against it in a Knick uniform. New York covers have become rare since Anthony
settled into his new digs, as the Knicks are just 3-10 against the number last 13
prior to facing Toronto last night. New York has failed to cover its last 3 when
unrested, after starting the season 11-4 in first 15 chances playing the 2nd of
back-to-back games. Still, the Knicks have covered 4 straight in Philly, and
Sixers aren’t completely healthy. "Totals" note: this series has gone “under” 5-
1 last 6, but uptempo Knicks “over” in last 6 through April 4. 10-Phi +7' 106-96

INDIANA 107 - Washington 106—Indiana has been consistently
inconsistent since the All-Star break, but Pacers appear to have done enough
to secure 8th playoff spot in the East and a faceoff with the Bulls (yippee!).
Indiana hasn’t had many problems against Washington, winning 6 of last 8 SU
and covering at the same rate. However, the Wizards are showing a bit of spark
down the stretch, covering 4 of last 5 prior to facing Detroit last night. Flip
Saunders has a nearly-healthy Washington team to work with now, and addition
of Jordan Crawford has greatly mitigated absence of Nick Young (who’s shot
selection isn’t always the greatest). Crawford has scored 22 ppg in his last 10
games for Washington, and F Andray Blatche scored 61 pts. and pulled down
36 boards over the last 2 games (SU wins against Cleveland & Charlotte).
Although a Pacer win might just about sew up its spot in the playoffs, Wizards
Blatche, JaVale McGee & Crawford are playing for their next contract, which
might be the more motivating factor. 10-WAS -2' 104-90 (196), IND -6' 95-86

TORONTO 108 - Cleveland 92—Injuries to Toronto C Bargnani (22 ppg;
missed 3 of last 4 games with an ankle injury) and PG Calderon (10 ppg, 9 apg;
out last 2 with a hamstring), haven’t stopped Raptors from covering 3 of last 4,
including an impressive SU win against Orlando here in Air Canada Centre on
Sunday. The Raptors got a combined 47 points from their backcourt of G
DeMar DeRozan & PG Jerryd Bayless against the Magic, and reboundingmachine
Reggie Evans had 17 boards to help Toronto to a 48-30 rebounding
edge against Orlando ace pivot Dwight Howard. Cleveland doesn’t have many
scorers, few rebounders and no depth (hence the 11-58 SU mark last 69
games), and the Raptors have handled the Cavs in both meetings this season
(a big difference for Toronto, as the LeBron-led Cleveland teams had won 15 of
previous 18 against Toronto). 10-TOR -3' 101-81 (195), Tor +2 120-105 (205);

Orlando 94 - CHARLOTTE 92—Charlotte’s pursuit of the final playoff spot
in the East might have gone down at the same time leading scorer Stephen
Jackson sidelined himself with a hamstring injury, but the venerable Paul Silas
won’t let his side quit without a fight. Jackson (26 ppg vs. the Magic this season)
expected to miss his third straight game last night against Cleveland, and it’s
difficult to see Bobcats notching a win without him against an Orlando side that’s
17-2 SU last 19 against Charlotte. However, the Magic have been sliding since
right after the All-Star break, dropping 13 of last 15 against the number, and the
Stan Van Gundy's team is coming off a game last night at home against
Milwaukee. Orlando is just 6-11 against the number in 2nd of back-to-back
games this season, and Magic have little motivation in the playoff race, as they
are cemented into the 4th seed and hosting a series against Atlanta. Orlando
has dropped 8 of last 10 against the number on the road, and Charlotte is still
motivated as it tries to run down Indiana for last East playoff berth. 10-Orl -7 91-
